I also told World Book and Britannica.. their days were numbered...

I was over the group that bought all newspaper advertising for Goodyear in the USA... we bought well over $50 million per year...
In the 80s and 90s... retail advertising was almost all print... we bought full page ads for Sunday and Wednesdays in almost all major metros... but I also had IT and a couple of my wizards showed me this intranet, extranet, and then the internet thingy... and it wasn't tough to see where this was going

Their financial woes aren't because of low circulation due to being in an economically depressed area. Their financial woes are because of low circulation due to the fact the majority of their staff writers have sucked for as long as Cleveland has had unsuccessful professional sports franchises, which I supposed means that's my entire lifetime, my father's lifetime, and his father's lifetime too.

Hell, if they canned both Bill Livingston and Doug Lesmerises and hired Oh8ch in their place to write fake Ohio State news, I'd subscribe!

I want to know how the Columbus Dispatch missed that list. Above 2 months ago I received a call from someone doing a survey about the Dispatch and it certainly sounded like they were going to downsize it considerably or possibly eliminate it.

i think the dispatch just let some people go? 40-50ish i think.

I'm over 30 and haven't bought a newspaper in years. I'm on the friggin computer all day, be it work or otherwise.

I work with a guy in his 60s who is always clipping articles he thinks will interest me and leaves them in my mailbox...a day after I've read them online.

I haven't had the heart to tell him.

At least one. I've been getting the Dispatch for years. I looked into switching to Sunday only (for the coupons, not just those awesome color-printed comics :paranoid:), but the full week rate was only a couple cents more per week, so I stuck with it.

It doesn't help that the Dispatch website is setup so poorly.
