By Farrell...Rob made his official to Syracuse but has not set up any others. He has dropped Pitt and is looking at Arizona, Clemson, Maryland, North Carolina, Louisville, Ohio State and Syracuse.

Still surprised Penn State has not gotten involved despite the fact they already have Szczerba...

Talk about what should be a slam dunk...I know Clemson will be in it until the end, and the appeal of living out in Arizona with the co-eds is huge, but I will always like our chances against those three schools.

I'm curious to know the story behind him souring on Maryland.

I think that if all schools pursue him the same amount that he would be ours to lose. If we slow play him or put him on the backburner and other teams push harder we might lose out.

Woodland Hills pitches another shutout
By Paul Kogut
VALLEY NEWS DISPATCH
Saturday, October 21, 2006

Woodland Hills recorded its fourth consecutive shutout and fifth of the season by defeating Kiski Area, 33-0, Friday night in a Quad East Conference game at the Wolvarena in Turtle Creek. Woodland Hills, which is ranked No. 1 in Class AAAA by the Tribune-Review, improved to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play. The Wolverines' win sets up a battle for the conference title at Penn Hills (6-1, 4-0) next week.
This season, Woodland Hills has allowed only 51 points, or 6.4 points per contest.
"They play real well together," Woodland Hills coach George Novak said. "We've got a lot of speed. Give a lot of credit to defensive coach Jack Neff. We had only three starters back, but they've come together very well."

Woodland Hills grabbed two interceptions. In the first quarter, senior defensive back Brandon Watters made a diving pick in the end zone to help preserve the shutout. In the fourth quarter, senior defensive back Eric Oliver returned an interception 17 yards for a touchdown. The Wolverines held Kiski Area to 97 yards passing and minus-6 yards rushing.
"If they can stay within themselves, defense will probably win them a championship," Kiski Area coach Chris Heater said.
Unranked Kiski Area slipped to 4-4 overall and 2-2 in conference. Next week, the Cavaliers will host Gateway (4-4, 2-2) for a game that will decide third place in the conference.
Offensively for Woodland Hills, senior running back Larry Walker rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown, and senior quarterback Vondre Griffin ran for 64 yards and a score and passed for an 18-yard touchdown.
For Kiski Area, senior tight end Mike Andring had five catches for 47 yards, and junior defensive back James O'Quinn had two interceptions.
Going into halftime, Woodland Hills led, 14-0.
Woodland Hills scored on its first possession when Griffin hit tight end Rob Gronkowski for an 18-yard touchdown. A defender was in front of Gronkowski, but the 6-foot-7, 255-pound senior ended up with the ball. Mike Belsito converted the extra point.
Kiski Area responded by driving from its 23-yard line to the Woodland Hills' 9. However, Watters made a diving catch for an interception in the end zone on a first-and-goal play.
In the second quarter, Kiski Area was forced to punt from its 7-yard line, and Woodland Hills took possession at the Kiski Area 34. Two plays later, the slippery Griffin weaved his way for a 33-yard touchdown that gave the Wolverines some breathing room heading into the break.
Woodland Hills added 19 more unanswered points in the second half.

Gronkowski To See Tigers In November

By Phil Kornblut
TE Rob Gronkowski (6-6 250) of Woodland Hills, PA plans to make an unofficial visit to Clemson November 4th when the Tigers play host to Maryland. The visit will serve two purposes. First, Gronkowski can get a close up look at a Clemson gameday. Second, he can watch his two brothers who play for Maryland. Gronkowski has made an official visit to Syracuse and is sticking with his original plans to take his other officials with Clemson, Arizona and Ohio State. He said he won't set his other dates until after his season. He does not claim a favorite. In seven games this season Gronkowski has caught 6 passes, 4 going for touchdowns.

gronkowski wins
Woodland Hills 31, Bethel Park 17
For the first time in six weeks, the Wolverines gave up a touchdown. In fact, they allowed two. But they were on the defensive again, converting two Black Hawks turnovers into touchdowns in the first eight minutes en route to a win at Turtle Creek Stadium.

Woodland Hills (8-2), the No. 4 seed, will meet North Allegheny (8-2) in the quarterfinals Friday or next Saturday. Woodland Hills defeated North Allegheny, 21-0, in a non-conference game the second week of the season.

The host Wolverines took a 21-0 lead in the first quarter on Marcel Farrish touchdown runs of 1 and 4 yards and a 28-yard Vondre Griffin pass to Rob Gronkowski.

Farrish's scores followed a Brandon Watters interception and a Mike Dykes fumble recovery, both inside the Bethel Park 35. The Wolverines ended up with two interceptions and a fumble recovery.

The Black Hawks (5-5) got a 23-yard field goal from Ethan Talbot to draw to within 20-3 at halftime, then made it 20-10 in the third quarter on Jeff Stewart's 61-yard pass to his cousin, Tim Picard.
