I've got about 30 custom ringtones on my phone. Some are video game music snipits like Mario Bros. stuff, Punch Out, etc. I've got a few Classic Rock tunes too. Basically just use a free audio program and cut a song down to 16 seconds or so, anything more is a waste of storage space.

I have the first iTunes phone that was released a few years ago, so I can just upload any ringtones via USB for free, no data charges for sending song the files to my phone or anything.

My current ringtone is Disturbed - Stupify

Then I have a few ringtones specific for a few people... (Take Me Out by Franz, Numa Numa I actually have this groups CD I got from France, and a Dave Matthews Band song)

But I'm in the process of adding more
