Hmmm... unless he can repeatedly hit pitchers with flying bats he can't hold onto... I doubt it...

THough... There is the possibility of throwing one over the backstop from the outfield to home.

He was hitting the shit out of the ball in the Minors. It will certainly provide some buzz for the fans and from the last I checked the Cardinals had nothing to lose. They aren't really a threat this year to contend for the Playoffs.

The 28-year-old Ankiel was hitting .267 with 32 homers and 89 RBIs in 102 games at Triple-A Memphis. He also struck out 90 times and had a .314 on-base percentage.

Ankiel is 6-for-16 with a double, a walk and three homers. Apparently he's had some nice catches in the field, too. Not a bad start!

After 23 games (includes today)

9 homers, 29 RBI with 22 Runs scored and a .358 batting average. He has 3 OF assists and only one error in 51 chances (I don't think it was a throwing error)....

I jump on the bandwagon of the best team out of the Cardinals, Reds and Astros.

I'd love to see the Cardinals make the playoffs. It would be fascinating to see if Ankiel could redeem himself from his first playoff meltdown.
