Rich Rodriguez (official thread of last laughs)

"'Witch hunt' may be a little too strong of a word, but there was certainly an agenda," Rodriguez said. "That initial article that came out was agenda-driven to be as negative as it could be on Rich Rodriguez and what he was doing with the football program."
The school later acknowledged that it was guilty of four NCAA violations.
fucking hilarious.

it was a witch hunt! the freep was out to get us! oh yeah and we were guilty.

RR speaks about his firing:

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=6080878

Rodriguez was 16-22 at Michigan -- including a 3-9 first season that stands as the worst in the history of the storied program -- and 6-18 in the Big Ten. The program was also hit with NCAA sanctions for the first time because of rules violations.

Rittenberg doesn't chafe my backside like most of the ESPN hacks, but c'mon Adam, RichRod was 15-22 in 3 years. How hard is it to verify that as part of your article?

I like that part where he sorta-kinda blames Bo Schembechler for having the audacity to pass away.

Clearly, you both didn't get the message. He doesn't want to lose his confidence. Please show a little respect for what may be the best coach TSUN ever had in the modern era. My heart is still broken. :(

"And had I been able to get on somewhere, that could have happened, too. I may have been able to get another head coaching job then," he said.

It's not OK to boot a coach AFTER a bowl game -- and save 2M in the process -- but it's OK to bolt from a bowl bound team to take a more prestigious post.

Ethical conclusion: Whatever works best for me is the right decision.

"But I still had the belief we had things going to the point where we were going to be pretty good. Like I said, the worst was behind us."

I mean we were a half-way decent team. All we needed was to get that defense thing figured out.

the Wolverines' offense was one of the most prolific in school history. But the defense was the worst in the Big Ten, hampered by inexperienced players and injuries.

We didn't need defense in the Big East. It's boring and keeps you from getting all the slot dots you need on offense.

"We had gotten better, not defensively, we had gotten better as a program each of the three years," he said. "We were going to be exponentially better the fourth and the fifth year."

Because you couldn't possibly get any worse?

"I'm hungry as I've ever been," he said.

Anyone seen Weiss?
