I just hope and pray the scUM flop week 1. I cant get enough of this story.

It's really not that big of a deal, nothings going to happen (except for the emotional effect it might cause some players and personnel).

PS, go ahead, eat me alive for saying it's not that big of a deal

yeah, a head coach crying at the podium is probably going to become a pretty common occurrence up north, so I agree, not a big deal

Losing to a directional Michigan school wouldn't be that big of a deal.

I love where RR has this program.

Hey lay off jthorp, I'm gettin accustomed to him around here. Besides, I think that he meant the story is not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things, and that it won't have a lingering effect in the SCUM'ers approach to the WMU game.

I'm shocked.

Rich Rodriguez is the guy you hire when you want to achieve an objective by any means necessary. He's like the Donald Rumsfeld of college football. In Michigan's case the objective was reviving a football program that languished a little bit at the end of Lloyd Carr's...at least much more than they were accustomed to. They thought it was their birthright to compete with OSU, so they brought in this guy. But obviously the potential long term consequences of that decision weren't considered.

I'm down with that. What is most amazing is a group of successful, apparently intelligent, educated men could even want to hire the guy.... Let alone do it and watch while he kills a program.

First of all, I have no desire to eat you - alive or otherwise.

That clarified, scroll through this thread and see how many links there are to media reports from sources both large and small (including the report that the university is performing an investigation into the matter).

Having done that please answer the question "What, in your mind, constitutes a 'big deal'?"

Thanks man, and yeah that's what I was saying. Im guessing it won't cause a big ruckus in the long term scheme of things. The story seems to be huge amongst the buckeye fans right now, even more so than with the wolverine fans... which is somewhat understandable.

Spot on.

This incident did not come out of left field. OSU fans don't actually attack the character of every UM hire. Those who have been paying attention have been consistently predicting RR would bring grief to UM one way or another.

It is an opinion formed of a man who recruited folks like PacMan Jones and Noel Devine. A man who phoned Pryor before he told his own players and the WVU admin that he was taking a new job. A man who tried to slide out from under his contractual obligation to WVU. A man who breaks down in tears after key losses (despite what Tom Hanks said, there may be crying in baseball - but there is sure as hell no crying in football).

None of us can predict how this grief will manifest itself. This may not be it. But it will happen.

Dude... say what you will, but you guys have a case of coach-coyote-ugly. So many of your players, alum, fans and administration would rather gnaw off their arm than deal with the likes of him. Face it, y'all beer goggled for a coach... and now you're paying for it with a multi-million dollar hangover.

Good luck... if you think that this is the last time his name will be the topic of a discussion like this... you're really in for a surprise.

IMO something that was a big deal (negatively of course), would result in some kind of punishment, rather it be big or small. A perfect example was the Jamal Berry incident, if you went over to the wolverine boards, the topic could possibly have a post record lol. It was a bad situation, but I didn't go crazy and post twice as much as I would about something positive.

I guess all I am saying is... give it some time before you start accusing people. We just had a situation a few weeks ago where a big rumor got started on our board and made it's way to Mlive.
