"I'm not for it," Swinney said. "I wasn't for the four-team (playoff).
"... I love the college game, and I loved it when it was a big deal to be top-25, top-15, top-10, go win the bowl game. Somebody's gonna be the national champion or whatever — it's 130 teams. So I just always loved that. I knew when it went to four, it was gonna become all about the playoff. When it goes to 12, it's gonna become more about the playoff. But that's inevitable. It is what it is. Some people, 'Well, yeah, you've been in the playoff.' We can get in with four, we're gonna get in with 12. Our odds aren't gonna go down. So it's not about that. Our team isn't for it. I met with my team. Our team isn't for it. They don't want to play more games, and to be honest with you, I don't think there's 12 teams good enough. So you're gonna play more games just to play more games."

Clemson Tigers football coach Dabo Swinney wants season shortened if playoff expands
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said Thursday he'd like to see additional changes made to the college football schedule if the sport plans to expand its playoff.
Swinney and North Carolina coach Mack Brown both came out against the proposed 12-team playoff this month after surveying their players for feedback, but after sitting through a detailed presentation on the proposal from Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick on Wednesday, Swinney said he sees value in the idea if the sport would also eliminate one regular-season game.
"Expansion is going to happen," Swinney said Thursday. "Now, what's the best way to do it? For me, it's being driven by money and maybe it's what the fans want, but what I do know is it's not what's best for these players. So if you're going to expand the playoffs, then we need to shorten the season. I don't think you can have both."
Swinney said his own experience going through the College Football Playoff in each of the past five years offered ample evidence that extending the season for teams could have significant consequences for players -- from their work in the classroom to their physical health.
"When you get to that level and that stage, you have a lot of guys who are about to play at the next level, and you say 'it's just one more game,'" Swinney said. "They say it so casually. 'It's just one more game.' That's a lack of understanding of what it takes to win a game at that level on that stage."

Yes Dabo, shorten the season and keep treating your players like their children and not athletes who a number will be be playing professionally in a 17 game regular season. Let's stop the charade Reverend Dabo, your boys were doing roids like Lattimore and you're still trying to play the sanctimonious act.
