REFUTED: Wishbone for Fiesta Bowl?!

i think its more than fair to say if we see a wishbone, it will be spread variation.

funny to me is that thespread came into use by teams that werent as athletic and fast and made it so defenses had to make one on one plays in space and play good assignment ball.

i can remember my first exposure to the "spread" was the wyoming team that came into the shoe.

We put in a wishbone package my Sr. year in college. OSU has the players to run the triple option as long as Troy can make the correct reads. With a month to prepare wishbone would be a nice gimmick offense to throw in a few times to see if ND can stop it. If they can't we could kill the clock and keep their O off the field.

And, really TG... come on.. do you think if it was within the rules of the game no one would have ever thought to run the "center sneak" before?
I remember scoring 3 TD's on a center sneak in pee wee. The first couple times, I would snap the ball up to hit the QB's hands and pull the ball back down. The league then found/made up some rule that it was allowed only if the QB actually took the ball and handed it back to me.

From the-Ozone, Tress on how he plans to spend the week in Tempe:

""We'll have one more padded practice where we'll be pretty physical tomorrow, then the next three will be in shoulder pads and shorts and that will be more of the fine tuning and getting rid of some of the dumb ideas we came up with when we've had so much time. There will be a lot of fine tuning those last three days," Tressel said."

Tressel said "dumb ideas"?

Just doesn't sound like something he would say.

I wouldnt be surprised to see this a few times. I'd have to imagine tressel would be sneaking ginn in there and have holmes in a slot with the flex.

Its interesting because reading the page Mili posted, with the arrival of chris wells we have two backs who run forward and will punish you, a younger line then this year, a solid reciever in gonzo and ginn who can beat you if you play the run, and not to mention an atheltic quarterback.

Haw, Pittman, Wells, C. Wells, Smith, and Ginn all have the speed to turn the corner and this old offense could work against a modern d

All that said, I really enjoyed watching Navy and their scheme and would love to see the Bucks use a little bit of that sort of misdirection against ND, especially if they happen to start a play with option right with Smith and Pittman and then pitch back left to Ginn

I know it's a lame move to give myself props, but nonetheless I'm giving myself 68 yards of paydirt worth of props.
