Reds Tidbits (2013 Season)

Ludwick out three months.
Ryan Ludwick - OF - Reds

Ryan Ludwick (shoulder) is expected to miss the next three months.

Ludwick damaged the labrum in his right shoulder in Monday's season-opener against the Angels and is scheduled to undergo surgery on Wednesday. It's a tough blow for the Reds, who will use Chris Heisey in left field in Ludwick's absence. Derrick Robinson is likely to be called up from the minors to add some outfield depth.

Wow, losing Ludwick for 3 months is going to hurt. It looks like we're going to see a whole lot of Chris Heisey and hopefully he is able to put up decent numbers in place of Ludwick. Phillips now will probably move to cleanup, Cozart will probably move to the 2 slot and Heisey will slot in a 7.

I'd rather see them move Frazier up to #4 and put Heisey at #6.

I'm not that worried about replacing Ludwick with Heisey. Ludwick was by no means guaranteed to do what he did last year. I think Heisey can be solid.

Hesey gets exposed with regular AB's.

He's a good sub and he isn't Drew Stubbs, that's about all the good things I can come up with for him.

Why you don't move the Donger out of CF and Heisey in there (if you are going to start him) can only be explained by "it's the Reds."

Fun fucking start. Looks like my B1 prediction is dead on the money.

That could be an alternative. The only thing with Frazier is that he doesn't have a track record of producing and by putting him in the 4 hole you are putting a lot of pressure on him to produce consistently. Phillips is not ideal in the 4 hole, but he has been in that role in the past and performed pretty well. Also, putting Cozart in the 2 slot will allow him to see many more fastballs in front of Votto than he would otherwise, which obviously makes him a better hitter. Any way that you slice it we need Heisey and Frazier to put up decent numbers in Ludwick's absence.

Cozart batting seventh is already too high. Second is a disaster.

This sucks ass...I'd almost be in favor of a Billy Hamilton call up, Choo to LF...Heisey sucks at baseball..

Xavier Paul play more maybe..I know Hamilton isn't ready but GD Heisey ain't worth a f**k...This Ludwick injury hurts on so many fronts...Prolly Lutz or Phipps comes up..This sucks..

Heisey isn't worth a damn, but an outfield of Heisey-Choo-Bruce still sucks less than last year's Ludwick-Warren-Bruce... not that it matters.

I don't get why you don't try and maximize what little Heisey brings to the table by playing him in CF and minimizing the one thing the Donger isn't so good at by moving him over to LF.

But that's just me. I'm not a real smart guy like Dusty. Maybe Asians are built better for the heat in CF or some such shit.
