Reds Tidbits (2013 Season)

my parents are going to the Reds game tonight, and were wondering where's a good place to eat before the game in the area

When my family goes to a game we usually go the place near the left field bleacher seats. The food's pretty good and they have memorabilia all over. I want to say it's called the Machine Grill for some reason.

Machine Room Grill... that's actually inside the stadium. I've never been there.

There's a lot of stuff in the Banks area right next to the stadium. You have to get there pretty darn early for some of the better options like Moerlein Lager House or Yard House. I'd say if you're not getting to the Lager House in the next... 30 minutes or so you'd be too late.

There's a Skyline at 4th & Sycamore - that's another place I'll stop at sometimes since I park near there.

Lately I just eat in the ballpark. They've added a ton of stands over the last couple seasons. There are a lot of solid options inside the stadium. I'd encourage them to get there early and walk around and check it all out.

yea they're there now, I just told them to walk around the banks and find something, I mentioned Moerlein to them

That's the place to go to then. The key is to beat the after-work crowd. I only went right before a game once. I work minutes outside of downtown - after driving, parking, walking I got our names in around 5:15. It was busy enough that we ended up missing the first part of the game though.

If you don't eat before the game you have nothing to puke up later when the stench of losing becomes overpowering.

Just sayin.

Somebody's gotten acclimated to Philadelphia, I see.

Holy shit.

I've been to probably a dozen Phillies games so far, often in Reds gear, and twice as many Flyers games. Always with at least my son if not the whole family. Never had one second of trouble (knock on wood).

I honestly don't know where this kind of bat shit crazy stuff happens.

Speaking of crazy Philly fans though, NHL fans might remember Tie Domi's fight from the penalty box back in the day.

A relative of the fan works for my company. The story as he tells it is hilarious.

One of the best. My favorite part has always been that Domi immediately pulls the guy's sweater over his head. :slappy:

Sorry so late. Might be better served for their next game. I lived in cincy for years as a kid before moving away and we would always eat @ The Montgomery Inn before the games. Pass the word along. It's a can't miss dining experience if they are rib people. FYI: Get there a few hours before the game b/c it tends to get really crowded 1.5 hours before the game starts.
