Reds Tidbits (2013 Season)

Blew their chances in the 6th and 7th w/ lead off doubles in both innings and nothing to show for it. Can't afford to squander opportunities when opposing pitcher is dealing and runs are hard to come by. What happened anyway in the 6th on the fielder's choice from Robinson and Mesoraco getting thrown out @ the plate? Didn't see any of it, just read the box score and plate-by-plate summary.

I happened to be listening on the radio when that happened. Sounded like a grounder to third, so Mes probably had to go. Not sure though.

Yep just bad luck. Bad luck really because Duhsty was finally trying to play baseball instead of softball. We had the squeeze on during that at bat also but Robinson couldnt get the bunt down. Totally shocked everyone and would have easily worked if the simplest thing would have been done.

I can't stand Dusty Baker and wish he was gone but he can try and do the right thing all day long but it won't matter if these guys can't do their jobs. It's pitiful that they just can't bunt.

At this point I know Hamilton is struggling but I guarantee he can bunt and a lot of the time if he's on first, he's probably getting to third. Might as well bring him up and try to take walks and bunt with the way these guys fail to produce in situational baseball.

The pitching has been fantastic though and they should get tons of credit for the way they are playing.

The problem is there isn't anything that obviously needs fixing besides the clusterfuck in LF, and they aren't going to make a move there because we're close enough to Ludwick coming back. We need general improvement from SS, 3B, C but we're not going to make a move to get it, and for the most part the bullpen has been fine.

Pitching wise we're in the same place, hypothetically if we get healthy we'll be good but who knows when that will actually happen and if Brox/Cueto's subpar first halfs were due to injury or just being Reds.

I guess the one small bright spot from this season is that Cingrani has pitched well enough (so far) that we don't need to worry about re-signing Arroyo and can focus on Bailey or Choo (although Choo may price himself out regardless).

Listening to the 1530 on my way home has gotten slightly more entertaining.
Mo Egger is starting to really flip out on the Reds.

Polyanna callers dial in, trying to remain positive but it isn't working. He's not in full meltdown mode yet. But it's coming soon I'd say.
