Reds Tidbits (2012 Season)

That Mesoraco shot was a blast. It's pretty cool to watch a batter not be worried about how far it's going to go, but rather whether it will stay fair.

I've never seen a team have its #4 & 5 batters hit into so many inning-ending double plays with a runner in scoring position, and overcome that terrible trend to win. Is it inappropriate to ask Philips and Bruce to do a squeeze in that situation? Cause that's what I'd have 'em do. Even if it doesn't work, it doesn't end the inning.

Since starting 4-8 the Redlegs have gone 21-11. Nows the time to put the pedal to the floor with the next 12 games against teams with losing records.

Or it's time to spit the bit.....we shall see.

History would indicate some spittin'.

and the inevitable WB comeback has begun.

:roll2:

I think the Cards are going to come back to the pack. Have you looked at their schedule? They played that one game opener at the Marlins new park, then played every game (27 straight) within the division until May 6. I don't think I've ever seen anything like that. They've been a .500 club since stepping outside the Comedy Central. Swept by LA, swept by Atlanta, and play their next 11 against the NL East.

I'll believe in the demise of the Cards and rise of the Reds when I see it. They have a track record of winning, the Reds have the opposite.

A few things...

If you show me our schedule and give me a pen, and ask me to circle a 6 game stretch that we go 6-0, I certainly go anywhere else besides Yankee Stadium and the Atlanta Braves. Impressive, right this minute we are the team nobody wants to play.

If you show me our schedule and give me a pen, and ask me to circle a 6 game stretch that we go 0-6, I certainly go anywhere else besides the Rockies and Pirates. Just puttin' it out there

I have to quietly appreciate Jay Bruce going straight cold quite often. His hot streaks make up for it, his defense doesn't take a day off, and if his average ever plateau's anywhere near Votto, we will end up not being able to afford him. Not sure why I think that far down the road, but...

Let's fucking ass-rape the Rockies and Pirates, after that I think even Jax will have nice things to say again

Ran into Franchester (almost quite literally) at Kroger after work today, which was kinda cool.

Listened to this one of the radio while doing yard work and painting. This thread is always fun to read after a game.

When did the Phillies become such a [Mark May] team? They have great fans in that town, I'm sure they are taking this well.

Problem with giving a lot of money to good young players is you're still giving them a lot of money when they become old shitty players.

Jax would complain the Reds were gutless for losing one if they went 161-1.

Well, yeah. How else do you think they would get those wins - by pitching and hitting?

The wins that this club somehow manages to scrounge up are fueled almost exclusively by Jax's rage.
