He is no where near the top of the NL rookie of the year race.

BTW...guess who is. His name rhymes with Shonder Malonzo.

He's top 5 right now based on offensive stats. His average is whats killing him but he leads all rookies in Runs and is second in Homeruns right now. He's holding his own in the other categories as well without even including his .981 fielding percentage.

The wildcard is Wade Miley for AZ. Kid is pitching his butt off right now and smoking the other rookies, and in the top of NL pitching overall.

Looking forward to going down to the game tonight and hoping my Braves can stop this two game slide. Monday and Tuesdays games were well played and featured some good pitching (despite the home run numbers).

I have the company seats for Saturdays game too and most importantly, the free parking pass.

Those of you who haven't had the chance to eat at the new Morlein House BrewPub should do so soon. The food is excellent and very reasonably priced. Its a nice alternative to Holy Grail because you can still have a conversation and the food is a cut above normal bar food. I'll be there tonight!

I agree, Moerlein's is nice. Just be sure to get there early. The one time I went there before a lightly attended game on the first homestand, the beer garden was full of douches who left work early and were sitting alone saving seats for friends who weren't there yet (really? in a beer garden? not cool.) We had a 50 minute wait on a table for two. I'm able to get downtown pretty quickly from my job in NKY, and my wife works downtown so we got to Moerlein's in what should have been plenty of time to get in and out before the start of the game. Unfortunately that didn't end up being the case. Part of the problem too is that I think some of the wait staff is still very much in training and as a restaurant, they are still very new and trying to figure out how to operate during a pre-game rush. Hopefully they'll have some of those kinks worked out by now. You're right about the food, it's pretty good.

Interestingly, I've never had a problem with Holy Grail being too packed or too loud. The latter is usually a problem for me, since I have more trouble hearing over the din of the crowd than most of my friends seem to. Last night they had a pretty good pre-game crowd, and the other time I went was on St. Patrick's Day. The weather has been gorgeous both times I went, so they had the doors open and I was able to stand outside - perhaps that helped a little.

One more thing I'll add about last night's game: It was very well attended for a Tuesday night game with no bobblehead giveaway. I think the town is primed to start attending games in big numbers, but it's up to the Reds to give people a reason.

The interleague series against Cleveland should be awesome if both teams are playing well.

His OPS is .714 and that is after two consecutive games of home runs. So you could actually pick that as a peak. Go back two days and it's under .700. His OBP of .292 is awful.

Wade Miley, Yonder Alonso, Bryce Harper, and Kirk Nieuwenhuis are all ahead of him. So top 5, sure, but right at 5. How many rookies are actually starting? I count 11 in the NL (5 of which that are starting pitchers). Being 5th in rookie of the year is not exactly something you go around bragging about.

Can he do it, maybe. Yet thinking he is anywhere near the favorite is a completely homer viewpoint. His stats have been plummeting and a couple of home run games (in a very home run friendly park) is not suddenly putting him near the top of the race.
