Reds Tidbits (2012 Season)

I don't think Homer induced a single ground ball out. I've seen Bad Homer plenty of times, and never has he looked more hittable. Tons of line drives.

Everything was up but to defend him a little, the pitch selection from Hanigan was predictable as hell. Marte was sitting al over that outside pitch he tripled to right.

I just don't get it. They work the count throughout the past month and they go apeshit. They work it early today and get a couple of runs. Then they decide to go back to the .500 Reds and swing at shit..WTF.

Dusty said to the team "Come on guys, it's Sunday! You're making me look TOO good! Start swinging at shit again! Just today."

Dbacks released Overbay. Lefty 1B who is batting .292/.367/.448 - there is NO reason that we shouldn't pick him up and kick Cairo to the curb...

So of course, I expect us to extend Cairo and not even give Overbay a call.

I can't believe I'm actually going to defend the guy, but Cairo earned his paycheck (finally) this past week with Phillips out. He cannot hit a lick but does at least have the versatility to play three infield positions.

I'd still jump on Overbay, but it would be at the expense of Paul or Valdez, not Cairo. With Frazier and Heisey available for OF duties, I think Paul would be the odd man out.

I also don't think Dusty or Walt would drop Cairo like that 2/3rds of the way through the season. They would not treat a veteran that way.

Paul is already the odd man out. As soon as Votto comes off the DL he is gone. So it will have to be Valdez, but he is the only true backup SS. So he can't go. It would have to be Cairo.

Phillies did not sell out tonight. The streak ends at (I think) 272. The streak began July 7, 2009, a 4-3 loss to the Reds.

Victorino and Pence leaving were OK. Fans must have been real pissed about losing Joe Blanton though.
