Reds Tidbits (2012 Season)

That's all fine and dandy, but then why the fuck wouldn't they have traded Ondrusek for Victorino?

Are we sure that deal was legit? I mean, it was being reported primarily by Paul Daugherty. As it turned out, the Dodgers gave up more than that to get him and they're eating his entire contract too. Even if that deal was legit, I don't think they balked at giving up Ondrusek, I think they balked at paying for all of Victorino's contract.

Todd Redmond has been called up and is in the Reds clubhouse. With Broxton also in, that means two pitchers should be going out either via trade, demotion or DL.

Damn, the Rangers are loaded. I like it. F the Yankees!!!

I was excited for a second that there might really be a three team trade involving Garza and Upton. Upton might be a head case but in Great American, he could seriously rake in between Votto and Bruce in this lineup.

Joel Sherman: #Yankees on verge of getting Casey McGehee for Chad Qualls from #Pirates

McGehee was made redundant by the Sanchez deal. Qualls replaces Lincoln, who they gave up in the Snider deal.

The Pirates have reshuffled their deck a bit. I don't know if they got that much better though. They've bought low on a couple guys.

On April 11, 2012, Broxton tied a dubious record for a major-league pitcher by ending and losing a game on consecutive hits by pitch (HBP). In the bottom of the 12th inning of a tied game at Oakland Coliseum, Broxton first pegged Yoenis Cespedes of the Oakland Athletics to load the bases. Broxton then plunked the A's next batter, Jonny Gomes, resulting in a walk-off HBP, blown save, and a 5-4 A's victory.

Shoulder and elbow problems, shut down for a year, one elbow surgery, has the 'inverted W'.

It's the Reds. You know this ends badly.

Snider is OBP challenged like the rest of the team and Sanchez is having a horrific year. I actually went to a different site than baseballreference.com to verify Gaby's numbers this season because I thought they had to be wrong.

.202/.250/.306

...and Qualls has an ERA over around 5 between PHI and NYY this season.
