It's just hilarious the amount of DP's Phillips hits into

My dude in Columbus I always text during games and I have changed his name to Drandon. Drandon Phillips, as in datdudeDP.. almost clockwork

Chapman faced 10 Cardinals over the series. Holliday got a single on a pitch that shattered his bat, Beltran hit one about 3 inches, and the other eight hitters struck out.

Still hard to believe he signed with the Reds

Saw these two nuggets from Bernie Miklasz (Cards beat writer) posted last night:

Record in games decided by 1 or 2 runs:

Pittsburgh: 29-19
Cincinnati: 24-21
St. Louis: 14-24

Runs Allowed in the 7th inning and later:

Pittsburgh: 91
Cincinnati: 99
St. Louis: 125

Also, Billy Hamilton hit an inside the park HR yesterday on a ball missed by the diving RF, which then caromed off the CF and rolled to the wall.

Hamilton was clocked at 13.8 seconds around the bases, and this was pulling up as he crossed home plate without a throw.

120 yards in under 14 seconds, while making three left turns.

Some Billy Hamilton facts:

- He has 109 stolen bases in 87 games. The single-season record for organized baseball is 145, set in 1983. With 48 games left in the minor league season, that record is certainly in his sights.
- Before he was promoted to AA Pensacola, Hamilton had 109 hits and 104 stolen bases. The number is now 113 hits to 109 stolen bases.
- He has more stolen bases than any major league team. The Marlins are the closest with 86.
- A left fielder lost a ball in the lights once. Hamilton made the catch for him ... on the warning track in left.
- Hamilton tagged from third and scored on popouts twice (at least). Once on a pop-up to the second baseman, another time on one to the shortstop.
- He's scored from third on a dropped third-strike and a roller to the pitcher this year.
- In his AA debut, he stole second on a pitchout.
- In high school, Hamilton tagged up and scored from second on a flyout to left field.
- Hamilton was recruited by Mississippi State as a wide receiver before being lured away by his Reds' signing bonus. So yes, he does have bonafide SEC speed.
- He has a career-best .411 OBP so far this year, walking in 12.8% of his plate appearances.
- He made Eric Davis -- who is apparently just hanging out in the Pensacola Wahoos' dugout this summer whilst wearing a Reds jersey -- cluck his teeth and shake his head in awe. This is the same Eric Davis who stole 80 bags in 1986.

A lot is being made of the Nationals/Strasburg situation and him running into an organizational inning limit by late August at his current pace.

Haven't seen mention of it, but with the Reds SP strength and (until Dusty Baker ruined another arm by giving Cueto a blister on his finger this week) the fact nobody has missed time, the Reds are going to have some questions to answer in September if they continue at their current clip:

IP (career high)

Cueto 120.1 (185.2 2010)
Bailey 112.1 (132.0 2011)
Latos 109.2 (194.1 2011)
Arroyo 108.2 (240.2 2006)
Leake 104.2 (167.2 2011)

Arroyo & Latos are not concerns, Cueto possibly. Bailey and Leake however may present problems in September, and they have both been brilliant recently.

I'll say this about Hamilton - he may not be close to ready to hit, play SS or CF at the MLB level, but he might be worth a September call-up for pinch running.

Yep. But, seriously, can he really be much worse than Stubbs? At least Hamilton is willing to take a walk. If he can get on base anywhere near Votto in the lineup, Joey's RBI total will explode.

If he finishes this month in AA at the same pace he's starting it, I'd say move him up to AAA and watch him there. September is going to be here before we know it.
