Reds Tidbits (2012 Season)

Credit where it's due: Bailey struggled thru the first few innings, but pulled thru nicely and eventually settled down. Eight innings of 1-run baseball.

Five game win streak and another series win for the Reds. They'll still blow it somehow though.

I like to check on the Reds minor leaguers every now and again. The highlight is almost always Billy Hamilton. He stole 5 more bases tonight. He is now at 80 stolen bases at the half way point in the season. After sending away to NASA to do the math, Billy Hamilton is on pace for 160 stolen bases. That would beat Vince Coleman's minor league stolen base record of 145 set in 1983.

It's absolutely unbelievable what Hamilton has been able to do this season. The best part about all the stolen bases is that he has shown the aptitude to be able to get on base at a high enough clip to get them. He currently has a .405 OBP and a .845 OPS, which bodes well for the future as he progresses through the system. It'll be interesting to see what the Reds do as Hamilton seems ready for the move up to AA, but Pensacola is stacked in the infield with Rodriguez, Vidal and Gregorious, who would be blocking Hamilton at SS.

Move him on out to CF and give me some hope that we are only a couple of years away from being Stubbsless.

:wink2:

I think the most remarkable part of his SB total is that everyone knows he's going to steal but they still can't get him out.

-Phillips with another one for the highlight reel today

-Votto is pretty good

-The pitching doesn't suck

They'll likely try and blow this but we have to start asking the question, seriously, who'll take it? The WB's are the only other team in the Central with a + run differential.
