Mike Leake could have a great career as a long reliever. He can hit and run and when he's controlling his pitches, gets a lot of ground ball outs.

That would make that problem of pinch hitting less severe. I also don't think Leake will make it long as a starter. He just isnt overpowering enough and will get knocked around a bit. For 3 innings in the middle though he could be really good.

That may be.

But as a first round pick he's going to get every opportunity to be a starter, and if he eventually does become a reliever it will likely be after the Reds have given up on him and he finds his way to another team.
