Reds Tidbits (2012 Season)

God, that was like watching one of BaBoone's Sunday Specials.

The only way to make a Reds lineup with Valdez look more pathetic is for him to be pitching against it instead.

There will be time for resting guys like Cozart on off days in after the FO gets their heads out of their asses and shores up the bench. Until then, playing guys like Cairo and Valdez at the same time along with Stubbs and Heisey/Ludwick is criminally stupid.

Costanzo has no business anywhere near an MLB roster. I'm not sure he's even good enough to watch baseball.

If he's actually developing OBP skills, then forget what I said. I wouldn't trade a 90 speed guy that can find his way on base at the MLB level. I only pay attention to the minor league talk casually, I thought he was still struggling.

I know his SS defense is horrific but if he's a legit offensive threat, not just fast, then 2B or even LF is fine. We've seen the effects of a team completely devoid of a true leadoff hitter.

One guy I was looking at in LF (before he got hurt the fuck again) was Kyle Blanks out in SD. He'd be cheap and quite effective in GABP if he could stay healthy.

His slash line in high A is .309/.384/.450. 37 K's in 217 at bats (which really isn't that bad in today's baseball). He also has 49 stolen bases in 46 games (that is crazy).

On the flip side he has 14 errors and a fielding percentage of .930. Yeah, can't really have that at SS. If he can clear that up and keep his offense the same while being promoted, there is no doubt he will be a top 20 prospect (maybe top 10).

To follow up on Hamilton. 3 for 5 tonight and 3 more stolen bases (no caught stealing). He now has 52 stolen bases in 47 games. His steal percentage is 82.5%, which is good. Yet when you consider the fact he attempts to steal pretty much every time he gets on base, it's exceptional. The other team knows for a fact he is going and still can only stop him 17.5% of the time. If he was even slightly more selective he would be close to 90%.

Think about this. He has attempted to steal 63 times. He has been on base 84 times with 7 triples and 1 home run. So 76 times with any real chance to steal any base. I am sure there have been times where a guy is in front of him and times someone hits the ball while he is stealing. Of course there is also the times he tries to steal second and third. Yet overall he is essentially trying to steal every single time there is an open base in front of him and is still successful 82.5% of the time. I don't care what level of professional baseball, that is off the charts.

RBI double for Frazier. Should have been a single, but McCutchen was a bit lackadaisical getting to the ball.

In between the two RBI doubles, Ludwick did what he does best by making an out on the first pitch he saw.

Sons of bitches. I was just getting into the replay of the UFC fight between Ian McCall and Demetrious Johnson when the rain delay ended.

These assholes could fuckup a wet dream.

There is a not so subtle comedy in this thread built on years of abuse.

You idiot! You slept through the game!
Who's the idiot? You stayed awake!

I had no interest in watching those pipsqueaks slap and grab each other. I was about to turn it off and go do something else when the game came on.

Another double for Bruce. I'll give credit to Duh-sty for this: That day off for Bruce seems to have untucked him for now.
