Reds Tidbits (2011 Season)

Some good and bad from yesterday.

Rolen to the 15 day DL. Frazier gets the call up. They have him as a Pinch Hitter though on the roster. Thats not good. LOL

Also in wonderful news, Arredondo is back from the DL! Yay for us.

Unless this team rolls off about 8 in row to end this month, the season is pretty much over. August is a much friendlier schedule, but they need to get back in it now.

In the end, I wouldn't mind seeing them lose every game between now and the trade deadline. Then they can get something for Hernandez (and maybe Gomes), Mesaraco and Alonso can be called up, and Dusty's ass can be fired. That would be much better for the long run.

and I have yet to see any inkling of them possessing the ability to go on an extended win streak.

8 is a bit much to ask for, but realistically, they need to go about 6-3 to have any real shot at winning the division. They may need to play near .750 ball for the rest of the season.

The bitch of it is there are precious few games against the teams ahead in the standings (6 vs. PIT, 3 each vs. MIL & STL). Even if the Reds were to sweep all of those series, there's still plenty of opportunity for any of the three to stay on top if CIN still hangs around .500 in non-division games.

To address Jax's point, the Reds haven't won consecutive games since June 15. They're due! They gotta be!

Cozart injured during collision with baserunner, had to be helped off the field. The way he was holding his left arm would suggest it's possibly broken.

Jay Bruce (did not start, ear infection) stand-up double, subbed out for pinch runner Mike Leake (DNS); Stubbs bunt single; Edgar Renteria (DNS, in for injured Cozart) 2 RBI double; Votto worm-burner single; BP RBI double. Reds lead 4-2.

Keep sendin out the gimps!
