Reds Tidbits (2011 Season)

I'm done. Not even going to watch these assholes in the bar anymore this season. I'll check the standings to see how far we fall, but unless they pull some kick ass transactions off, see you next season.

Lets play some fucking football!!

If any good can come from this season, I got a Reds can coozy and Reds garden gnome to scare the deer away from my daylillies for half price today.

My three year old daughter saw the garden gnome and asked me why Santa was holding a baseball. That alone was worth 8 bucks.

One last thought on the Beltran thing;

from MLBTR
For a Carlos Beltran trade to happen, the Mets would probably have to eat $5-7MM of his contract and take back a B-minus/C-plus prospect back in return, Olney tweets.

Now obviously that's a huge TIFWIW but if true and he'd wave his NTC for a couple million and some schlep prospect I'd hope to fucking blue baby jesus they'd at least try to get him.

The inability to offer him arbitration means the Mets will take little to nothing for prospects. I still believe it comes down to who eats the most of his contract. How much is yet to be seen. Yet the Red Sox could be a big player in this, and they can easily eat a bunch of that contract.

Of course at this point the Reds may be looking at selling not buying. Ramon Hernandez could fetch a fair amount, and I doubt the Reds are looking to offer him arbitration. So dealing him now would be a wise move. His value will never be higher, and he is worth nothing at the end of the season.

I haven't even watched much of the game, but every time I check is seems like Rolen is leaving a ton on base. What is he up to, about 10 left on?

edit: I was close. 9 left on base, and twice with bases loaded and less than 2 outs.

I guess its not my money but you'd think this "the losing stops now" owner would pony up a couple million for a still salvageable season (only due to the vicious mediocrity of the NL central).

Ehh who am I kidding, its just not in their nature to do anything good.

I agree on Ramon BTW, if they aren't going to do anything to improve the team they sure as shit better sell off what they can.

BTW if anyone wants a good laugh go check out the Bakernomics thread in the Sundeck at RZ.
