He was given a first inning lead and it's impossible to give away faster than Volquez did today. Votto's HR made made it 1-0, and it turned into a 2-run deficit after the Indians' second batter.

Thankfully, this is the kind of stupidity that should accelerate a process that should've began weeks ago. Any goodwill that Dusty had for Volquez had to go up in smoke. From what I can tell about Baker, throwing your teammates under the bus like that has to be the deadliest of sins.

Would love to see a lineup like this.

1. Stubbs CF
2. Alonso LF
3. Votto 1B
4. Phillips 2B
5. Bruce RF
6. Rolen 3B
7. Janish/Renteria SS
8. Hernandez/Hanigan C
9. P

Only have the 7 hole at SS because Janish is playing god awful right now offensively. But is this so much to ask for? I'm sick of DERP in the 2 hole and he's played there 3 games? Let's get a fresh face into this lineup, maybe it motivates the rest of em. Bruce is batting well right now, Stubbs is doing his thing to get on base, you gotta think once there's some life in the 2 hole, Votto and Phillips are going to be hard to pitch to.

But then a LOOGY could pitch for an 1 1/3 innings with only facing one righty. That goes against the laws of Dusty.

As far as the #2 hitter goes, there is a school of thought that says (if the leadoff guy can get on base A LOT) put a shitty hitter in there and have the cocksucker bunt the leadoff guy over. I am religiously opposed to giving away outs with non pitchers but when you have 2 different DERPS who hit like pitchers anyway, well why the fuck not?

Nothings perfect but given the constraints we are dealing with here its worth at least considering.

BTW, Dusty- if Gomes can't hit, can't play defense and can't even fucking sacrifice bunt then what is it exactly you'd say he does around here?

At some point, I need to resign myself to the fact that when I watch the Reds play, Gomes is still only the third stupidest person involved in the viewing, ranking just behind Dusty, and well behind me, who keeps watching.

Also, the zen benefits of working in the garden are completely wasted when you put these fucktards on the radio while you're out there. :bonk:

lots of stuff happening right now with the reds, sounds like frazier and maloney being called up and herrera claimed off waivers, haven't said yet who's being sent down...

also read a rumor i guess from Buster Olney something reds trying to trade homer bailey gomes and player to be named later for Jose Bautista
