Reds Tidbits (2011 Season)

That home run vs. Chicago was the worst thing that could have ever happened to this team. One home run a month by Gomes and Dusty loves him.

His teammates need to step up too. I have a good friend who is awful at golf. Great guy, one of my best friends. Yet when he starts stinking it up on the course, I tell him "pick your damn ball up and move on." I don't care how much they like Gomes, this is major league baseball. Not everyone gets a trophy, and not everyone gets to play. If they like him, send his ass packing and buy him some tickets to the ball game. He can come hang around the ballpark and they can yuck it up all they want. Heck, maybe invite him down to take a few cuts in the batting cage before the game. Make him a batboy for all I care. Yet for God's sake, get him the hell off the team.

starting to believe we need another bat more than a TOR guy, i mean we just lost a game 2-1 (and the 1 run came cause's ocab's error), with Bailey and Cueto giving quality starts, we are not getting any consistent hitting at all

The Reds need a bat, BADLY. SS and LF preferably.

Well, they have a guy OPSing over .900 in the minors and now playing LF (Alonso). He also hits lefties almost as well as righties. Sappelt is hurt, but could also play left. Those are nice, cheap options. SS is another matter. Personally, I can live with Janish if they can get a bat out in LF. Shortstops are super expensive. Even a guy who could be on the block like Reyes will have plenty of teams bidding up the price, and he is a butcher in the field. I am fine with a poor hitting shortstop with a plus glove and arm.

They simply need to fix LF. It's a position where it is easy to get help. In the NL, only first base is an easier place to get a bat. There is no reason this team should be playing the guys they are in LF. Heck, I would be happy if Walt simply DFA's Gomes to take him out of Dusty's hands.

Frazier is another option for LF and can play 3B when Rolen gets his off days. He hit another HR tonight putting him at a .296 AVG with 11Hrs and 33 RBI's.

I've been saying for about a week and half that Alonso needs to come up.

I'm with you.

At some fucking point all these fucking prospects need to turn into a good MLB fucking player or two. I'm fucking sick of reports from down on the fucking farm while Johnny fucking Gomes looks like a monkey trying to fuck a football out in left fucking field.

Finding inventive new ways to lose to Cleveland's AAA team after tossing the Pirates salad has officially set me the fuck off.

No Gomes in the starting lineup today, so I'm back.

Continuing to play Gomes because "you're gonna need his bat in the lineup" is like banging a fat chick you went to high school with because you need her to look like Jessica Alba.

It's the same shit I've been saying about Volquez, but at least he provides some reason for that line of thinking every once in a while and plays a more premium position. There are quite possibly at least five better options for LF just within the organization right now (Heisey, Lewis, Alonzo, Sappelt & Frazier). There's no excuse for this crap.

agreed, I still think Volkie is good pitcher, he just needs to get over that 1st inning hump, it seems in every game in innings 2-6 he looks like a TOR guy striking out 8 and retiring 15 in a row or something like that, but it's the 1st inning (or his last inning) that has doomed him every start
