Reds Tidbits (2011 Season)

Yeah he sounds like a tool in that interview.

That being said, Jim Edmonds personally unfucked Jay Bruce last year. If it carries over into this season and beyond, then he will forever be owed a debt of gratitude by Reds fans.

*On his lingering foot injury and not being able to go to spring training with St Louis:
"Awful, it's still awful. I still can't do so many things I want to do. It's really frustrating. I don't know the right words to use towards the Cincinnati doctors. I'm in a situation I thought I'd never be in this situation. I can't walk and I chase my kids around. It's not healing. Surgery is the option right now. That would be a year rehab. I'm not looking forward to that. I still think I can play.

The words you're looking for are, "I figured, thanks anyway."

At least that's what you should say when somebody tells you there's not much you can do for somebody who blows out his foot DURING A FUCKING HOME RUN TROT.

Then again, I can see why he'd be a little upset. There must be something extra special that they're doing in the training facility in St. Louis. If only the Reds doctors had some kind of some kind of magic "juice" or something that that could help old guys play longer and not get embarrassing injuries that won't seem to go away or get better. The team that figures out how to use that stuff is going to have a lot of veterans contributing in the playoffs and will win a lot a games. Do they make such a thing? Let's ask this guy - do you think he knows?:

Why does he talk about the Reds doctors? What they hell did they do? Did they perform his surgery which was well past his contract expiring with Cincinnati (it was last January).

What a delusional jackass. You are 40, and tore your Achilles while rounding the bases. Guys in their mid 20's rarely come back from Achilles surgery. The St. Louis doctors told him he would never play again. What about them?

Does he think the Reds doctors should have held him out of the lineup? What about the Milwaukee doctors? IIRC, his first injury with the Reds was an oblique injury. It's not like it was an ankle injury that they forced him to go out and play on.

I'm not that pissed about the Edmonds quotes personally.

He ragged the Cincy medical staff and if anyone has spent any time at all over at RZ you have heard that before. He ragged Phillips who I personally think is a cockhole so no biggie for me there (but I could understand some taking offense). He just spoke the plain truth about the Reds in the playoffs last year. They shat themselves.

So take all that no big deal stuff and add in HE UNFUCKED JAY BRUCE and Edmonds still has positive rep in my little world.

Now let me hear that "he caught it he caught it!" shit and all that warm fuzzy goes out the window but you all know that story.

Let me speak in defense of Phillips for a bit. I like him, other than his Willie Mays Hays tendencies.

I've especially gained a new appreciation for him over the last year. After the Summer of LeBron, I'm glad that he's the kind of person that he is. I'm glad that he seems to want to finish his career here. I'm glad he's the kind of person who wants to stick it to the Whiny Bitches in his sport rather than hoping to one day team up with them.

Besides, giving Jim Edmonds credit for unfucking Jay Bruce is a bit like giving Hitler credit for Germany's infrastructure.

The only Edmonds quote that bothered me personally was this one:

It's a different monster when you get in the playoffs. You need some veterans and guys that really step up

Yeah. No shit, that's why you were brought over here. Thanks for all your playoff contributions, jackhole.

It seems like he's complaining about a lack of playing time in Cinci while things had been going good in Milwaukee, then in the same breath he's upset because Cinci made him play too much when he should have just shut it down since he knew he was injured.

How the F did he pass his physical?

Edit: And I'm with jlb on Willie Mays Hayes. He may be a cockhole, but he's our cockhole and I'll defend him. In this era of free agency he seems to be one of the few guys happy about where he's playing and taking pride in what that means.

What?

I'm doing 180 mph in the left hand lane without some dumb redneck in a work truck in front of me topped out at 60. I can't hear you.

It's going to be fun watching Berkman in RF this year. Ball hit off the wall in right, 2B makes the play to prevent an inside the park home run. A good RF makes the play for an out, a mediocre one pulls up and makes the play off the wall. Berkman puts on his cement shoes, runs into the wall without coming close to making the play, and lets the ball rebound to the 2B half way to the infield.

and now a lazy grounder that Ryan would have made in his sleep is turned into an infield single by Theriot because he has no range and no arm.

Then he makes a good play on a ball to catch it, but can't get it out of his glove. 2 men on, no out where it would be no men on, 2 out with Ryan.

I thoroughly enjoy watching the Cards stupid off season moves come back to bite them already.

edit: and both of those guys score. 6-3 Pads. Congrats Cards, brilliant off season.
