Reds Tidbits (2009 season)

2 rally killers in the same game? He better be running out to RF with a purpose or he risks the ire of the poofy haired one. :wink2:

I wasn't listening at the time, but following his triple, he was thrown out at home on a grounder and didn't even bother to slide. I'm sure that got a couple comments from Marty. Lil' Marthy was riding him on it on the television broadcast for it, although it was justified in this case, IMO.

Since the blowout against MIL, Arroyo is 3-1, giving up jsut 10 ER on 26 hits in 31 innings pitched. It's about time for another implosion for him.

11 total bases in 3AB's and they bitch about not sliding into home. :shake:

I suppose they were expecting the Ray Fosse treatment?

Nah. It was just a lazy play on his part. They weren't overly harsh, just mentioned that Dusty let him have it a bit and that there's no excuse for not sliding in that situation.

Trade him for a RH bat..(Matt Holliday) That would create a buzz and excitement around Reds baseball we havnt seen for years..

Homer Bailey wouldn't get traded for Matt Holiday's jock strap right now.

The only player the A's would take straight up for Holiday is probably Votto at this point.

It was lame. He could have bowled the catcher over and given him the Fosse treatment, or he could have slid, or he could have made an effort to run around the catcher, or anything else other than what he actually did, which was pull up short and walk across the plate conceding the out. Bruce earned whatever he got from the Reds broadcasters for that one.

EDIT: What Bruce should have done after he realized he was too far off third to go back and was dead meat was extend the play by getting himself in a run-down so that Rosales could at least move to second.

WT aside this team has been horrible on the basepaths for the last several years. Multiple managers, different players. You'd think the new emphasis on manufacturing runs would result in smarter base running. Whatever, I'm just glad he didn't get hurt ala Kearns and fat fucking Mitch King a few years back. I still say that screwed his career.

This years team reminds me of when a stock is doing well but the fundamentals don't support it. You know the bitch is going south eventually but you just keep sitting there smiling and enjoying the ride up for as long as it may last. :wink2:

Ray King. Kearns was never, ever the same after that.

When it happened, he was batting .309 through 45 games (131 AB) with 8 doubles, 13 homers and 44 RBI, an OBP of .417, SLG of .599, and OPS of 1.015. Scored 30 runs in that time.

After the injury, in 37 games (130 AB), he hit .208 with 3 doubles, 2 homers, and 14 RBI, scoring just 9 runs.

Simply brutal.

Also, I dare say this is the best base-running Reds team I've seen in quite awhile.

Mitch/ray/cock hole, whatever he goes by. That fat no talent bastard ruined Kearns. :wink2:

Glad to hear it seems to be the best base running team in ages (I haven't been watching and they have been winning so I am not going to break the mojo), of course that isn't saying much but we'll take what we can get.

The non Tavaras base stealing numbers are still dreadfull.

Jax, dude you make me laugh my ass off at some of your posts. From the initial comments about Willy T's signing to this comment about poor ole Mitch. Thanks for the laughs amigo.
