Reds Tidbits (2009 season)

Janish still has quite the repotroire considering he hasn't pitched in about six or seven years. He leads the staff with a K/9 rating of 18.0, but he'll need another outing or two to bring down that WHIP of 5.0.

Hysterical seeing a backup position player take the mound and throw 92 on the corners and mixing in the change-up.

He throws harder than Arroyo and has better location than Volquez, and the Reds have paid more money to guys whose job it is to pitch that have had worse outings than Janish did.

JJ Hardy definitely wasn't expecting Janish to come out throwing 92. Hardy will never, ever hear the end of that K.

great points and yes Hardy will NEVER live that one down. Janish surprised the heck out of me

I missed it. Nice to hear he was throwing 92, did he have movement?

I gave up in the 2nd inning, what on God's green earth possessed you guys to watch long enough to see Paul Janish take the mound?

That's a great question. I turned it on juuuuust after Braun's grand slam, laughed for about 3 minutes, noting to the Mrs. that it was better than last year's performance at Toronto, and flipped over to the hockey game.

Knowing that they came off a 14 inning game in Miami and that there are no 6th starters/long relievers in the pen, somebody that wasn't a pitcher would wind up pitching.

I give you all kinds of credit for watching that long, no doubt. My feeling 24 hours later is that it's nice to see that Bronson got his Toronto out of the way. I think you can coin the term for him, and then only hope he has one per year. Now that it's out of his system, no more Janish :)

This one belongs to the reds! Come on guys sweep the cards take the top spot in the division!

No better time than now to rack up a few home wins. As bad as the Reds hit, they are still treading water.

Today wasn't a bad showing especially since we won with the "WTF?" lineup in. Hernandez was pulling best Javi impression tonight with the great plays at first. The quote from SC top ten "either that's a great play, or Jason Kendall is really really slow". No respect, no respect at all...

Jason Kendall has one functioning ankle with a full range of movement, and he wasn't that fast to begin with even before the compound dislocation he suffered in '99.

Went to the game last night - it was a good time. Too bad more people don't show up. I was kinda disappointed to show up to find Dusty rolling out one of BaBoone's Sunday Special lineups, but it's understandable given the way the last few days have gone. It was good to see the bench guys contribute to the win.

Milwaukee Brewers 5
2008 Louisville Bats 6

Bruce's homer was absolutely crushed. He's really turned it on after his slow start.
