Reds Tidbits (2009 season)

You know it's not the new year until the ball drops on Times Square and somebody from the Reds says THAT.

Yeah but that was last January. He's going to have two seasons under his belt just as bad as anything Uncle Carl put forth once this year gets put to bed. Only difference is Carl never insulted our intelligence by running around claiming he cared about winning.

This guy is either an outright liar or just another incompetent dickhole. Either way the Cincinnati tradition of pathetic ownership continues.

If I was a Bengal fan on top of a Reds fan I would have murdered someones ass by now. Thank god for the Steelers and Buckeyes.

Per Bob and Walt, the economy is now the excuse and what we thought would happen all along has come to pass. They are at budget, what you see is what you get as far as the roster goes.

Oh btw, we all took Bobs direct quote about winning now out of context. He didn't really mean now, he meant at some point. :roll2:

As per usual the Reds brass makes boneheaded decisions with the money they do have to spend and the average fan will give them a pass and say small market teams can't compete.

Tavares and Weathers are due to make roughly 6M combined this year and we had replacement players that will give you the same production for league minimum in house already. Another easily replaceable part, Hariston JR, is due 2M.

Oh well, we'll be a really fast and scrappy 90 loss team.

EDIT

BTW, here is the quote we all took out of context.

We've just come to a point where we're not going to lose anymore

It's become the norm with Reds owners. I remember Linder saying "If we build a new stadium we will put a winning product on the field".

Yep. Before that you had Marge who didn't see the value in having a farm system or scouts.

Cincinnati Reds, the power of tradition.

They are the bane of my existance as a sports fan. 1990 was a fucking miracle.

Hell, it was only last year that they remembered that it might be a good idea to look for baseball players in Latin America. The Reds' m.o. for the last 30 years has been a lot like looking for potatoes and not going to Idaho.
