Reds Tidbits (2008 season)

Started off great, turned into the Reds in the middle, and still managed a win at the end. I'll take it. Its a win in the division over the leader, on the road. Lets get tomorrow as well and this will be a decent beginning to the road trip.

We pissed away some chances to get insurances runs tonight, but we didn't need them with the way Arroyo and the pen threw the ball...

I take 6innings and 3 runs from Arroyo all the time...His velocity looked much better tonight...

Any way you slice it a 3 game winning streak a win over th division leader is a great stretch for us and hopefully it continues, as guys continue to find their stroke...

ST. LOUIS ? A pair of negative streaks was expunged by the Cincinnati Reds Monday night in Busch Stadium against the St. Louis Cardinals.
One was much more important than the other.
The Reds' 4-3 victory ended their nine-game losing streak in the first game of a series. That's a streak everybody knew couldn't continue.
The other was pitcher Bronson Arroyo's losing streak and his inability to go more than 5 2/3 innings. Both ended on a frigid evening when keeping warm was as important as keeping the ball down.

Per Buster Olney this afternoon during an ESPN SportsNation chat:

victor monroe,la: when do you think ken griffey will get 600career home runs

Buster Olney: Victor: Sometime in the next three weeks -- and then he'll be shipped off to Seattle.

...

Joe (CO): Re: Griffey. Do you think he is going to be traded back to Seattle or were you just making a joke?

Buster Olney: Joe: No, I do think he's going to be traded back to Seattle. Purely speculation on my part, I have no concrete information, other than knowledge of the basic parameters in play -- Cincinnati wants to get more athletic with its corner outfielders; Griffey has made no secret of the fact that he wouldn't mind going back to Seattle; the Mariners need left-handed hitter and a right fielder, and Griffey would fit; and I think everyone involved would work to make it happen. Again, it's a guesstimate on my part, but it makes a lot of sense for everybody.

aaaand they are at it again.

Top 1 runners on 2nd and 3rd. BP hits a grounder to 3B, CP gets caught in a rundown but does his job and lets Kepp get to third. Except Kepp takes back off for 2nd base for some reason and gets in a rundown of his own.

First two hitters reach and we get a big fat fucking zero because of a double rundown/pickoff. :shake: I mean seriously, who the fuck else does this ever happen to? I never see us do it to the other team, thats for sure.
