Recruits at Spring Game

Glenville's Lebron Daniel was here with Coach Ginn, and there may have been more Tarblooders. Didn't see Hines or Jefferson. Thad Gibson was here. Mark Wetterer, Nate Oliver were in attendance. There were a good 30 kids, but it's hard to read the name tags, even from where I was sitting. Oliver with a couple teammates.

Coach Tressel spent at least 30 minutes during pre-game with Dionte Allen, Taurian Washington, and Aaron Gant. I also saw Connor Smith, Jacob Ballard, Tyler Moeller, Dexter Larimore, and Thad Gibson.

We would have a great shot with Washington if we offered, but Allen is a longshot at best. I would love to land Clemons, he might be the top WR in the country.

Apparently Clemons was there sporting an Eddie George jersey. I'm glad some big names were there, but I wish some Martin's and Clifford's would have been there.

Same here, I really wish that Barksdale was there. He wants to go to a place where football is king, and he went to the Michigan spring "game" where there were only 15,000. Having him see the 64,000+ wouldve been very impressive I bet.

I would have to think proximity would play a role in many cases. I can understand why Barksdale would go to scUM's game since it's closer. I would have liked to have seen some big Ohio recruits there.

Football is king at Michigan. Don't kid yourself. It's king so much so that the AD and school completly disregard the basketball program while they give the football program whatever they want without asking questions. Why do you think they've lead the NCAA in attendance for 20+ years straight. Why do you think they've sold out pretty much every game for god knows how long?

The reason nobody goes to the Spring game is because Lloyd Carr never even has a spring game. The guy sucks all of the fun out of it. If there was a real game with a Maize team and a Blue team and the fans actually got to see some real action, I'm sure they'd could get 50,000-60,000 fans easy. The problem is most fans don't want to waste their time seeing a patty cake open practice where Carr sits basically everybody that is remotely important. Even Barksdale said that the Michigan spring "game" was boring. Carr doesn't have the savvy of Tressel or Weis to use the spring game as a recruiting tool. I really don't even know why he wastes everybodies time with it, and I really feel like he wouldn't even have one if his hand wasn't forced.
