Recruits at Spring Game

Football is king at Michigan. Don't kid yourself. It's king so much so that the AD and school completly disregard the basketball program while they give the football program whatever they want without asking questions. Why do you think they've lead the NCAA in attendance for 20+ years straight. Why do you think they've sold out pretty much every game for god knows how long?

The reason nobody goes to the Spring game is because Lloyd Carr never even has a spring game. The guy sucks all of the fun out of it. If there was a real game with a Maize team and a Blue team and the fans actually got to see some real action, I'm sure they'd could get 50,000-60,000 fans easy. The problem is most fans don't want to waste their time seeing a patty cake open practice where Carr sits basically everybody that is remotely important. Even Barksdale said that the Michigan spring "game" was boring. Carr doesn't have the savvy of Tressel or Weis to use the spring game as a recruiting tool. I really don't even know why he wastes everybodies time with it, and I really feel like he wouldn't even have one if his hand wasn't forced.

I didnt mean it as a shot to Michigan really. What I meant was that I think Barksdale wouldve been really impressed seeing how many people showed up at the OSU spring game. We had at least 64,000, and the next closest came in at 57,000(Nebraska.) I wish Tressel would use it more as a recruiting tool, but for some reason we only had a couple of high profile recruits at the game. Football is king at both OSU and UM.

I've lived in both states. Football is a big sport in Michigan, but not the end-all that it is in states like Ohio or Texas. The obsession with OSU is far greater in Ohio than the equivalent fandom of UM in MI. Plenty of michigan fans will admit this, and use it to mock ohioans that one game determines whether or not it's a good year.

Michigan has the pistons, red wings, spartan basketball, etc... more importantly fans who care more about those teams than UM. I do not think there is as much competition for the buckeye fanbase.

LOL...you got me in your photo too! Larimore's father (talking to me in the Red shirt) took a photo of me "paparazzi" style on the way to the locker room.
Glenville's Lebron Daniel was here with Coach Ginn, and there may have been more Tarblooders. Didn't see Hines or Jefferson. Thad Gibson was here. Mark Wetterer, Nate Oliver were in attendance. There were a good 30 kids, but it's hard to read the name tags, even from where I was sitting. Oliver with a couple teammates.

I know for a fact, AA deck was totally packed. Most likely beyond cap. They were packed in like sardines(sp?).

A and B decks were filled. But not filled to full cap. People were spaced out here and there.

C deck was half filled.

so only the outer edges of the C deck were empty, along with the south stands?

From where I was sitting I would of guessed there was closer to 70,000. That was me banking on the south endzone holding about 20,000(This is a guess) That would mean that there were 85,000 seats left, and I honestly don't think that there were 20,000 open seats in the horeshoe. I mean even D deck looked full.

As for the recruits it looks like Clemons wasnt there, which isnt the greatest of news.

But you have to like the individual attention that Tress gave to Allen and Washington. Hopefully it pays off, but I think that Allen is going to the darkside.
