Of note on the list who were not apart of the Top 100:

Neland Bell
Josh Brent
Devonte Campbell
Toney Clemons
Scotty Cooper
Andrew Dailey
Mark Dell
Dewey Elliot
Rob Gronkowski
Junior Hemingway
Jermale Hines
Dale Martin
Derrick Morgan
Diaunte Morrow
Nate Oliver
CJ Peake
Solomon Thomas
Devon Torrence
Tony Tucker
Taurian Washington
Ian Williams

I was shocked to see Dell and Morrow as a 4 star. I think David Arnold would have been a better selection than Morrow. Also surprised to see that Dell is a 260 lb. DT from Hubbard, OH:biggrin:. Also no Hankerson? Other than that I think it was a pretty good list. Rivals did an excellent job at their pre-evaluation imo.

Really? Then how does Ben Martin fall from pre-camp #6 to post-camp #40-something?

I see both sides, but in Scout's/Rivals defense, every big recruit can't always make it to every camp and/or combine, but there are MANY recruits across the country that don't even get noticed until he goes to one of these events. I enjoy viewing rankings as much as anybody, but does everybody really think that the Rivals &/or Scout polls are 100% accurate? It's just a matter of who is familiar with who. I've seen players that are ranked highly that I don't think are the greatest, but I see more players that get no respect that are some of the best that I've seen. The only thing is that it's Worm02's word against a Rivals, Scout, ESPN, etc. Does that mean that I'm wrong? No, but it's just a matter of opinion, and exposure, whether it's at a camp or not, means a lot. As far as Ben Martin goes, I've never seen him play (but I've heard nothing but great things about him), but even though players like him appreciate the national respect, I'm quite sure that he's not too pressed if his ranking falls a few spots regardless of the circumstance. If he does care, that just gives him more motivation to go out there and prove that he's worthy of a higher ranking. Heck, I'm personally know several players that probably deserve to show up in some of these polls, but all I can do is just encourage them to work harder & harder. Regardless of what happens, as long as they still end up in college, or at least make an effort to get to that level by doing the best that they can, that's all I caree about.

FWIW, I remember seeing a player ranked by a publication who didn't even go D1A. Just goes to show you how inaccurate rankings can be.

Midwest Hot 100

6/13/06

Too many prospects to list but Clifford at #15 is a travesty...Clay is #1.

so, after repeatedly proclaiming that he fought to get clifford and martin in the scout top 100, Pool puts clifford at #15 below 3 guys that didn't make the national top 100, including below Barksdale, who he called a mediocre DT. And Pool got pissed when I insinuated he and Newberg contradicted themselves repeatedly.

I meant Rivals doesn't...did they ever have Ben ranked that high? I know he was on their pre-evaluation Top 100 list, which just a list of names, not a ranking.

EDIT: I found it here...you are right. They had him at #8 and then dropped him to #45.

The top 2 in the midwest are from the Badger State! That's certainly an oddity. The only other player from Wisconsin was at 58 (Nick Toon). I definitely thought Victor Reynolds should be in there too. And I definitely wonder if Nzegwu and Hagerup would be in there if they played in another state. Nzegwu put up more impressive combine numbers than Bernstine and Hagerup plays 3 positions (QB,P,K) and was rated as having the best arm at Iowa camp. But as for Wisconsin the school, that would be a heck of a pull to get the top 3 players from the midwest. It's very realistic with Oglesby already a commit, the inside track on Clay it seems, and according to scout.com's midwest recruiting analyst Chris Pool; Wisconsin's chances with Wilson are very good.
