RB TreVeyon Henderson (Official Thread)

  • Henderson feels “great” and feels like he’s “back to myself” now that he’s back doing individual work in practice. Henderson says “I feel like I’m 100 percent” health-wise, but that Ohio State is still holding him out of team work just to be safe.
  • Henderson says “I never felt like myself” in 2022 after suffering his initial injury in the third week of the season.
  • On Ohio State having a loaded running back room this season, Henderson says “it don’t phase me at all.” Henderson says competition is “never a thing for me” and thinks it will bring out the best in the entire position room.
  • Hendersons says “I feel like I could definitely play a game right now” but that “there’s a whole season ahead of us” and there’s no reason to risk anything. Henderson says he’s been ahead of schedule “for a while now.”
  • Henderson says he fractured his sesamoid bone last season and that every time he pushed off his foot he was “basically refracturing that bone.” Henderson says he was “barely practicing” all of last season and that he often questioned if he’d be able to be himself during games.
Excellent news on Henderson.

Ohio State's TreVeyon Henderson said he's 'Officially cleared' after foot surgery

“I feel great. I feel like I'm back to myself,” Henderson said earlier this month. “I started doing some individual work, but they still want to keep me out of team work just to be safe. When I come back, they want me to come back for good. I feel like I'm 100 percent. I'm running full speed, I'm back to cutting, so I'm feeling great now.”

Injured and criticized: TreVeyon Henderson's battle to return to form for Ohio State

The Buckeye running back took some shots last year when fans didn't know how hurt he was.

Nothing came easy for TreVeyon Henderson in his sophomore season at Ohio State last year. The Buckeye running back hoped to build on his record-setting freshman season but found himself on the sideline nearly as much as he was on the field.

Henderson, who successfully split the workload early in the season with Miyan Williams, suffered a fracture of one of the sesamoid bones in his foot in the Week 3 game against Toledo. After rushing for 178 yards and two touchdowns in the opening two weeks of the season, Henderson had just 393 yards and four touchdowns in the six other games he played, a far cry from the 1,248-yard, 19-touchdown year in 2021.

Eventually, the running back shut his season down, missing the rivalry game against Michigan before having surgery prior to the College Football Playoff semifinal against Georgia.

“So basically I couldn't push off that whole last season,” Henderson explained the injury this spring. “Every time I tried to push off, I was basically refracturing that bone. And then I tore some ligaments and tendons. So my foot was basically beat up.”

Unfortunately, Ohio State and college football fans weren’t aware of what Henderson was going through physically. The Buckeyes don’t share much information on injuries, just whether players are available or not on game day. It was clear Henderson was battling injury issues, evidenced by missing three other games in 2022, but not how severe those issues were.

Instead, those who watched Henderson from the stands or on television saw a player that was a shell of the one who was a second-team All-Big Ten performer the season prior.

“There were moments where sometimes I'd be hopping around or it would take me a while to really hit the hole,” Henderson explained. “And that's just because I knew that if I would plant my foot, that I would basically refracture that bone… I was just thinking about it all the time. Going into the game, you don't want to be thinking all the time. You just want to go out there and do it.”

Maybe it was because I saw it live, but that pass he took to the house against Minny was jaw dropping. To everyone in the stadium, even Minnesota fans were asking who the hell is that guy and nobody can be that fast. I watched Teddy Ginn on some big plays and he is the fastest player consistently that I have seen at OSU. But on that play against Minnesota, I swear Henderson had to be the fastest ever.

Man I hope he is healthy this season, he is a treat to watch when he is.

I was watching highlights of that Penn State game where the 1st clip came from while doing the dishes this morning. Reminds you just how electric he is with the ball in his hands

I think TreVeyon is going to have big bounce back year. There are a ton of people sleeping on him this year. My only question is out of his control... how well is the O-line going to be able to block for him? My thought is they're going to be better at run blocking than pass blocking, but TreVeyon can also make magic happen out of nothing

Ted Ginn on a kickoff return is the fastest man to put on pads. Take your breath away
Yeah when Teddy kicked it into the top gear on a kickoff, yikes. But on that TD against Minnesota that was somehow another level, it was like he had NOS injected into him when he pulled away. Doesn't matter though, love them both and Trey just go ball out this year. Talent is there and Meatball is going to compliment him very well.

Minnesota KO and the Indiana KO return TDs (it was bullshit the Indy one was called back) in 05 featured acceleration that I've never seen matched on the field before or since

It's the offseason so we're having these debates haha, but I love having them. I wore #7 in everything because of Joe Germaine, but it became Teddy Ballgame because of how exciting he was to watch. I watched him house a punt return in East Lansing that I swear he broke lightspeed. Trey then broke that in the Minny game to my absolute shock. Like people thought it wasn't even human and I agree, never saw that before.

Point is that Trey has speed and athleticism that is dynamic if he is healthy. Fingers crossed for that, it would be a joy to watch it come together.

Edit: That return in Bloomington was unreal, had to pull it up for comparison. Same on the Minnesota return. Wasn't there for either. Probably on par with Trey in Minneapolis, TG was just unreal fasr. Holy crap I miss watching Teddt play.
