RB TreVeyon Henderson (Official Thread)

I agree that's not good, but if he passed the doctor's tests, what else can the doctor do? The tests are designed to determine if he has a concussion. If he passed the tests, then the doctor isn't going to know he has a concussion. Only the player (in this case, TreVeyon) will know if he has a concussion, and if he's like all these other players I hear about, he wants to play. Saying "I have a concussion" means he doesn't get the chance to play.

Maybe the doctor's tests need to be modified. I'm guessing and hoping that the NCAA regulates what tests need to be done.
Maybe the doctor wasn't following the rules and passed Henderson when he shouldn't have. (Very much not a good look for the doctor or Ohio State.)
Maybe he didn't really have a concussion, and he thinks he did have a concussion, and he's showing the world that he's willing to play through the pain.

TreVeyon Henderson on providing for his mother, who no longer has to work two jobs

However, what Henderson is accomplishing off the field is even more meaningful to him.

Henderson’s family did not have much money when he was growing up, and he shared a bedroom in a small house in Hopewell, Va., with his two brothers. His mother worked two jobs just to keep the family afloat.

She does not have to work two jobs any longer.

Thanks to NIL deals that Henderson has struck with a car dealership and a cryptocurrency exchange company, he can now provide for his mother. Last month at an OSU Board of Trustees meeting, Henderson told the trustees that NIL has “completely changed my life.”

When Bucknuts got a chance to speak with Henderson last week, we were curious to hear more about his thoughts on the matter. It must feel very good for such a young man to be able to take care of his mom.

“Oh yeah, definitely,” Henderson said. “I watched my mom have to struggle growing up and have trouble trying to take care of us and provide for us. But she always worked so hard and she always did whatever she had to do to make sure we were straight.

“And now, with NIL coming in, I can take care of her. Forever. Hopefully forever. But yeah, this is just the start now. She’s straight now. She doesn’t have to worry about anything.”

Really though, how cool is that? Whatever you think about NIL, how can you not love that?

Henderson did not get specific about how much he’s raking in, but it is clearly more than pocket change.

“Oh yeah, being here at The Ohio State University and being a running back here, yeah, I make lots of money,” he said. “So, whatever my mom needs, whatever my grandma needs, whatever those two need, I send it right to them.”

NEW RIDE. When you're the starting running back at Ohio State – and also arguably the top running back in the country – you drive a ride worthy of your name (image and likeness).

One day, I'm sure I will look at a photo of an Ohio State player very clearly getting a car as an endorsement deal and think that it is very normal and fine. But that day is not this day.

Great story! A very smart and grateful young man. Doing the right thing by his family. Wish there were more 'feel good' stories about NIL like this. We hear about the player taking his NFL bonus money and buying parents a house, but the NIL allows this type of story to move upstream a bit. TreVeon has already shown he's a great RB, as well as being a great person. Glad he wears Scarlet & Gray. Go Bucks!

TreVeyon Henderson ‘off to a good start’ in spring practice

TreVeyon Henderson is already working hard to make sure his follow-up act to his freshman season will be special.

The second-year back broke records as a freshman, but he wants to do more for the Buckeyes. And coach Ryan Day can already see Henderson is locked in on making sure that happens this fall.

“His potential is to be as good as anybody in the country,” Day said of Henderson. “I think it’s just a year under his belt and a little bit more confidence. He has certain things he wants to get done the spring and has a good look in his eye. …

“I think running back in the spring is a little bit of a challenge because you’re not tackling as much, so that part’s a little bit tricky. But you know, in terms of protections and pad level and vision and those type of things, he’s already off to a good start.”

With another offseason to get better, TreVeyon Henderson seems to only be getting started for the Buckeyes in Year Two.

I saw this and laughed pretty hard. Tre is so much better than Corum from a talent perspective (and pretty much any RB in the country for that matter, let alone the B1G).

Agreed from the talent perspective, but Tre needs to prove it between the tackles. I think Corum does a nice job of getting low and being hard to find inside the tackles.

I like that Tre is using it as motivation and I have no doubt he'll show us even more as he progresses throughout his next 2 years.

I think Henderson is great when there's an obvious alley or hole, but he needs to be better at converting those 2-3 yard runs to 4-5 yard runs. Dobbins did such a great job of that where Henderson was very much all or nothing. Would be great to see him keep his head up and use his vision to find the cut back lane to gain a few extra yards when the hole isn't there. Only thing stopping him from flirting with 2k total yards in a season.
