Clarett Wanted on Robbery Charges

Former Ohio State running back Maurice Clarett is wanted by Columbus Police for allegedly robbing two people early Sunday morning.

According to police, at 1:45 a.m. Clarett, armed with a handgun, approached two people in an alley near the Opium Lounge and demanded that they turn over their property.

Clarett then got into a white SUV with two other unknown African-American males and sped away.

Neither victim was injured.

The 22-year-old is now wanted on two counts of aggravated robbery.*

MO has not seen 215 for awhile. Always the limelight has said...right before the focus should be on OSU v ND. I guess Troy is wrong if he is in jail may not be watching the game.

Also even though this is probably not a rumor anymore we should keep out of currnent Buckeye info as Steve19 said. Don't give MO the satisfaction.

No, no, no... you've got it all wrong. The problem is not Maurice Clarett. The problem is that The Ohio State University administration, and more precisely the football staff, failed to turn him from this unfortunate path.

Of course, the above is a load of horsecrap, but that's the spin I'm afraid we'll be hearing.

I hate the media. They're woefully underqualified for editorialization, and the constant drive for ratings/readership prompts them to distort the facts in favor of sensationalism.

OK. Rant complete.


My actual opinion: if this is true, my dislike for MoC has been entirely replaced with regret--for such a promising young man to come to this... :shake:

Actually, I think we are way beyond the place where Ohio State will be blamed for this guy. He got his chance in the pros and blew it.

I must say, if he is indeed found guilty, I will not be surprised. I have been expecting something like this for some time now.

Actually, this is news and I can't fault anyone for carrying the story. I will be incredibly disappointed if they let it overshadow this fine team. These seniors have been besmirched by this character far too long.

This is their moment in the sun.

Okay, just a naive question here- what is the evidence against Clarett? Just a visual ID? Are those ever mistaken? I like most people have an opinion on his character, but we demand that people get a fair hearing before guilt is pronounced....

I think we are all in agreement with you DB. No one is saying he is guilty.

I would hope that the team is cut off from the media for the rest of the time leading up to the game?

It would be very unfortunate if they got peppered with questions about this before the game.

The small, lizard part of my brain wants to think that Clarett did this on purpose as a sort of sick publicity stunt.

Anyone know what kind of sentence this type of crime carries? Gun crimes are obviously extremely serious.
