RB Maurice Clarett (B1G Freshman of the Year, National Champion)

Press conf sometime later today. Geiger and MoC met earlier but there was no announcement. During Spielman's show they were waiting, but no announcement. Speculation is that there will be an announcement later today.

ugh.

I have been monitoring the NCAA infractions database, and so far there has been no realease pertaining to OSU. I am not certain if a report will be released if it applies to MoC as an individual without any implication to the university. If reports are true that the NCAA sent a letter to OSU, then I would expect that at some point an infraction report will appear on the website.

As much as a I hate Ohio State, I'd like to see Clarett play. If anyone deserves the Heisman, it should be a Big 10 player. And your MoC has the best chance. I hope his first game benching doesn't affect his chances. And Michigan has to earn their win against Ohio State (w/ Clarett). A victory against a Clarett-less football team isn't the same.

Here's hoping this is the start of a whole new chapter for Mo. Suspensions are never a good thing, but here's an opportunity to get back with the team, and be totally fresh for the second half of the season (assuming it does end up being the 6 games the Dispatch is guessing).

I like how the school is dealing with it, I like how JT and AG are dealing with the media. All in all, as painful as a day like today is, I feel like we're going to be able to walk away clean, without this being a an ugly spot that we have to answer for in years to come.

The media is the enemy, I'm hoping Chapter 2 involves them less.

I think Mo will still be a Buckeye next year, and that makes me happy (despite assertions I've made (and continue to make) that I won't necessarily be sorry to see Mo move on when he's ready). I don't put a ton of stock in the CFL notion offered by jim Brown, but we'll see.

If I believe the media reports stating that he would agree to up to a 3 game suspension, then he has obviously done something in violation of some rule. I do not know if I as a fan will ever find out what he did, and I do not necessarily need to know what he did. Whatever it is, and whatever the penalty imposed, I hope he has the courage to suck it up and play through it. Some people may look at this as his last chance. I look at this as his golden opportunity to start the process of becoming a team leader by example - admission, contrition, and penance in as humble a manner as his personality will allow. Not for show, but as a sign that it is time to leave the hood and become an adult. I am really rooting and praying for you to succeed MoC.

What I don't like is the fact that the NCAA is putting all the pressure on The Ohio State University to make a suspension. It is tatamount to saying we can't do anything, so you do it. Additionally, there is pressure to make the suspension long enough to satisfy the NCAA. Hell, if they want him suspended, let them do it. This of course has nothing to do with the academic stuff, if there is a problem there, it should be handled as well. In a nutshell, (buckeye, of course), if the NCAA couldn't find anything to suspend MoC for, why ratchet the pressure over to the university? I think I need a Clarity post to address this one. Thanks......

Coastal.....evryone feels the same way...it's just the way the NCAA works. Bud Selig would not have this problem.....btw..great job on the field..it's going to be special on 9/7...you ought to post some pics of the field..I'm sure that (even though not OSU related) other posters would like to see the fine work of an OSU grad :wink2: especially when it is a beautiful plot of grass with white markings and goal posts at each end

Thanks, jwe! That's 2+ years of planning, alot of money, and a good bit of bargining that you see there. Hopefully, it will be nice on Sep. 6 and for a number of years thereafter. I have tried all along to make it a real nice place to watch a ballgame. Hopefully, it will be. Thanks again!

Re: MO has been notified that ruling is today !

NCAA has called MO and told him that there decision will be made today. Jim brown say's he has heard that the penalties are too stiff.

I believe that his penalty will be around 3 to 6 games, either way. Not too big of a loss. Lydell Ross, the backup, is a GREAT running back, OSU is still a winning team without him.

Anyone (who watched on tv) get tired of seeing Murice on the sidelines last night? I love the guy but sheesh, this game was not about him. It was like watching the Fiesta Bowl and seeing K. Winslow Sr. every other time play was stopped. Let's move on, we get Mo back when we get him back, until then we've got a whole team of players and coaches to focus on.

I'm with ya 3yards. In one breath Keith Jackson is saying the cameras should be kept out of his face and he should be left alone to be a student and right after they have the cameras square on him. Too bad the cameramen at ABC didn't consult Jackson before the game.
