RB Maurice Clarett (B1G Freshman of the Year, National Champion)

Clarett had the most talent of any Buckeye tailback I've ever seen(though Beanie is right there with him now) and he was smart as hell on the football field too. How many players would've been able to strip that ball from Sean Taylor, one of the strongest safeties you'll find? That is the stuff of legends.

FWIW, I love Eddie but he was more of a workhorse/overachiever in my eyes. Very good back who played hard but really benefited from playing behind an excellent o-line and alongside great receivers. I'd rank him behind Clarett, Beanie, and Byars in terms of talent.

Spiels is talking about MoC on 1460..

He spoke to Maurice's lawyer and got an update..

-he is working on his college degree in prison and plans on graduating from tOSU when he is released

-the lawyer said that going to prison saved his life because of the downward spiral his life was on

Spiels was discussing an idea with the lawyer of MoC talking to some other young kids/players about his life mistakes.

:shake: it would have been a lot easier if he just let Tressel save his life.

Glad he's working his stuff out though. A degree from tOSU would be an happy ironic ending for the guy who fought the rules to get out of college...

I sincerely hope OSU doesn't allow felons get degrees. Sad and pathetic if true.

So we should deny them education? What if he is actually trying to make a great attempt to turn things around? - I thought thats what tOSU was all about?

Education is paramount to be successful (99% of the time) I don't see why we should say no if he's really trying.

For those that didn't hear him on 1460 today, Speilman was suggesting that Buckeye football players that get in trouble with the law be sent on a field trip to the Toledo correctional facility that Maurice is currently doing time in to "scare them straight".

Might not work for every kid, but if it ends up helping just one kid get his life together, it would be worth it. Interesting topic.

Yeah, because OSU is the only college in the country.

that is what community colleges are for...and YSU..for criminals like Clarett and Irizarry.

It's a lonely but ultimately rewarding craft...

Doctors are whippersnappers in ironed white coats,
who spy up your rectum and look down your throats,
and press you and poke you with sterilized tools,
and stab at solutions that pacify fools.
I used to revere them and do what they said
till I learned what they learned on was already dead.
