RB Lamar "Bo" Jackson (Official Thread)

And the real Bo Jackson was 6’1 230lbs or so and faster than anyone else on the field.

I’ll never be able to see this kids thread and not think on Bo 1.0
Yeah, if he'd only focused on football and not had the hip injury, he'd likely have been the best of all time. Didn't even really need much in the way of moves. A one of one combination of size, power, and insane speed.

My former OSU RB comparable for Peoples has been Antonio Pittman, but it's starting to look like that might be optimistic. We'll see. I don't have a comparable for Jackson as he doesn't really remind me of anybody else in particular.

Micheal wiley?
Wiley was more of a straight line speedster and ran taller to me. Going beyond OSU, I looked at some old clips and Dalvin Cook from FSU is, for me, the closest match I've found so far.

He reminds me a lot of Kenneth Walker....for comparison sake, I'm posting Walker's video from his Wake Forest days. Obviously Walker was a monster at MSU when he transferred as an upper-classmen. I think the vision and shake in the hole are pretty comparable....and they both run physical. Bo is slightly taller, whereas Walker carried his 217 lbs in a more compact frame, but I personally like the comparison.

MoC, but not quite.
That was my thinking. Like a MoC Lite. He has the speed and power, and toughness. He runs angry like Maurice. Wanting to punish whoever is in front of him. I wanted to say Beanie. But he's not nearly as tall, upright and honestly doesnt have the breakaway speed of Beanie.

And honestly the comparison game is fun. But just being able to give these comparisons and all of us be somewhat correct for a true frosh in game 3 is pretty wild!

JMO, Mo C is hard to compare to. He was competent and set up blocks unlike any freshman we’ve seen. He basically carried us to a Natty as a true Frosh.

I don’t think it’s fair to Bo…..again, JMO.
Without that strip, we don't win that NC. Man, it just gives me all the feels to see him come right after his fall from grace and get the respect he deserves.

There's some recency bias at play with MoC comparisons. If he'd played three seasons, he'd be our #2 behind Archie. BJ2 notched 108 and 109 in consecutive games as a freshman against Grambling and OU. That's fantastic and we definitely need it, but he's not anywhere near MoC: 175 yds and 3 TDs against Texas Tech in the opener and set up two more that even Lydell Ross could manage to punch in and then 230 yds and 2 TDs against Washington State.

Texas Tech in the opener, but I agree that Mo C was a whole different animal.

He's actually a firefighter for the Tampa FD or at least was as of 2021. Although he might still be at a strip club minding his own business on off hours ...
I may have to search the BP archives, but I remember cracking myself up writing about Lydell trying to rush in to put out a fire, running into the door frame, knocking himself out and the building burning down.
