RB James Peoples (National Champion)

I guess there’s a pretty obvious reason CJ Donaldson got double the snaps as Peoples.

I was a little surprised when Donaldson came out as the starter but it obviously makes sense now.

Texas has a nice defense so I’m not trying to overstate it, but there was definitely NOT that elite RB “feel” when we had Trey or Quinshon in backfield last year.

It’s early, and I recall lots of times when Trey didn’t look great being run up the middle in a predictable way. I’ll concede that I’ve been as big a Peoples fanboy as anyone and that he didn’t look good on Saturday in a vacuum or compared to Donaldson, who can move a pile more, but let’s see what they look like with some holes and less predictable play calling, acknowledging that next week won’t tell us much at all.

I expected a bit more; I didn’t have lofty expectations but I thought maybe a couple 7-10 yarders with that burst.

I’d like to see an all-22 analysis to get a sense of how diverse the blocking schemes were in the ground game.

It didn't seem like he used the best vision in his runs. It also seemed like People's missed the hole on several occasions which drew Lock to putting Donaldson back in. I'm sure it could be nerves and getting used to the speed of the game playing against 1s, instead of in garbage time

Not as bad as I expected. Seemed a bit hesitant a few times and choose safe options over a few cutbacks or bounces that could’ve lost yards.

Still showed impressive burst a few times. Hard to judge based just on this game. Zeke didn’t have over 60 yards until his 4th game, so I hope he gets plenty of time to adjust and get comfortable.

Yeah, we still have to remember that he played the best defense in his football life in his 1st game starting. Let's see how he does the next few weeks. Something tells me he continues to improve. Coach Lock doesn't play soft batch cookies :biggrin2:
