RB Jaamal Berry (Transfer to Murray State)

And so you might be thrust into a difficult situation with a guy like Jamaal because he's a game that's like what, game eight or nine? Nine? Do you spend a year at this point? The answer's no if Boom and Brandon and Jordan and Jermil are ready. It all of a sudden we're down to one of those four, the answer is yes even if it's game 12, so you have to find out what the situation is.

from jt's press conference. this is my thinking as well.

Jamaal Berry might even get some work this week, he's back on the active full practice roster.

but the really good news is it sounds like he's ready to go health wise should he be needed. great to hear he is healthy again and may be able to get back to practice.

I think that he reaggravated the injury after that presser...that's the feeling that I get from some of these posts. Am I right guys?

from this week's JT presser...........

"So the thoughts of going into the game and it's Jordan and Jermil, I'm a little nervous about that, that's awfully thin because what that tells me is that Brandon and Boom aren't allowed to play. Tough nuggies on the call to use or not use. My impression of Tressell is that he doesn't push kids to play hurt and I hope that is the case, but again, I've had to deal with hamstring pulls from the coach side. When you see one, a huge purple bruise on the back of the leg, you realize how serious it is and the only known cure is rest, ice and then heat. Taping it up won't bring back full speed and won't do anything to make the contusion go away. If anything, when you push someone back, or when they push themselves, you often end up taking twice as long to get the athlete fully recovered.

Yes, he has re-aggravated his hamstring for the umpteenth time this year. :(

I am very hopeful that he gets healthy during the off-season and has a stellar 2010 season.

Saine has practiced and is available so I think a redshirt(for Berry) is a done deal.

Well all that discussion from yesterday is now null. I'm officially worried about RB depth now.

I am worried about RB depth too.....

I'm not. Between Hall and Martin, we're fine...we also have walk-ons Gantz and Christian who are more than serviceable and who have game experience (albiet limited and in mop-up duty).

I thought Williams tore something in his knee in the Illinois game? Could be completely wrong, but that's what I remember hearing.

If you've got 4 healthy RBs, you should be in good shape. I would say the emergency RB would have to be Flash, rather than Ganz or Christian. I would LOVE to see Flash get some chances at RB in the spread offense...

Gerry DiNardo on the Big Ten Network Bowl Wrap-up tonight said he looks for Berry to emerge at the tailback position (along with Pryor at QB) in 2010. Nice.

Hope he stays healthy and helps the team win.

Should Berry emerge, we'd have one hell of a three headed monster in the RB stable.

While I appreciate DiNardo's optimism, I think it will be a very big challenge for Berry to earn a significant amount of snaps with Herron and Saine back, along with Jordan Hall. I agree with you, I would love to see Berry become another weapon to incorporate into this offense, and I think if he stays healthy he become a good player, but has some catching up to do. Let's hope DiNardo's prediction comes true!
