RB Jaamal Berry (Transfer to Murray State)

It's official: Palmetto's Jaamal Berry a Buckeye
Star running back Jaamal Berry selects Ohio State. 'They have a lot of people going to the NFL, and when I first went there, location wasn't really a factor,' he said. Also signing was athlete Darryl Williams (Western Kentucky).

On Wednesday morning, Palmetto star running back Jaamal Berry made official what seemed inevitable more than five months ago: He's an Ohio State Buckeye.

Berry, a bruising 5-11, 185-pound tailback, signed on the dotted line at his school's auditorium during National Signing Day, opting to go with the university he fell in love with since he visited it during the annual Scarlet and Gray Spring Game.

''Tradition [is what set Ohio State apart],'' said Berry, who told OSU coach Jim Tressel on Aug. 31 he was going to be a Buckeye. ``They have a lot of people going to the NFL, and when I first went there, location wasn't really a factor. I was just looking for a place to get a good education, and I want to go to the NFL, so I wanted a school that was going to [fit that need].''

I'm just excited that the hard work thus far has paid off, as I recall he had to put in extra work in the classroom following his freshman year.

Now he has to continue to work hard as he transitions.

Well the good thing about Berry being 2 tenths slower once he passes the Mason Dixon line, is that he will still be faster than about anyone else in the B11. I guess when we play USCum and in the BCS NC game the Brew Crew and Co. will just have to provide bigger holes for our sloth like RB's to run through :tongue2:

I can't wait to see what JT and the staff have in mind for Berry, his shiftiness and speed will really add an extra dimension to the offense this year (fingers crossed )

I would love for this young man to have his "coming out party" so to speak
against USC this fall:)

I certainly share some of the enthusiasm for Jaamal, but why is everyone assuming that he will be featured? I thought Boom did plenty to entrench himself as the starter, and I think Jaamal would need to show that he is already a great collegiate running back to take away significant carries from Boom. I think Jaamal will be a great running back eventually, but maybe not just yet. I feel confident that we will get at least a couple years of Boom before Jaamal, Hyde, etc. really get a bulk of the carries.
