RB Ja’Kobi Jackson (Official Thread)

JA'KO(R)B1

His stat line never leaps off the page but there's no arguing Ja'kobi Jackson runs the ball like a rabid dog. The dude gets downhill quick, seemingly always falls forward and I have to believe the offensive line feeds off it.

Oh and he also had at least one really solid blitz pickup as he stoned a linebacker in the hole. He's not a receiving threat and I'm not sure he has many game-breaking home runs in his holster but at this point, he feels like RB1.

He carried it 14 times for 72 yards yesterday, good for 5.1 a pop, against an Iowa defense that was allowing around 2.7 entering the game. None of his carries went for negative yardage.

As nearly all of us expected Bo Jackson and Isaiah West to be the 1-2 punch in OSU's backfield, it's Ja'Kobi that seems best suited for the B1G grind at the moment. Props to the veteran for coming in and carving out a meaningful role.

Also, as much as Bo Jackson drives me insane because I don't feel he's maximizing his talent the way Ja'Kobi is, Bo was indeed a solid contributor again yesterday with 16 carries for 70 yards (4.4) meaning the Jackson 2 combined for 30 carries and 142 yards (4.7 ypc). It's not as sexy as we've gotten used to around here but that's not a bad day of work on the road against a physical defense.
