RB Favour Akih (Official Thread)

Well, maybe the injured ankle will keep him from getting banged up, while awaiting his turn at tOSU RB. Given that it appears that we have RB1 and RB2 for the next couple of years, can see the need for a bigger style back to work the short yardage situations. CJ started out well, but didn't continue towards the end of the season. Seems like the cold makes for more injuries, so we'll see what the transfer portal provides in January. There's a bunch of seniors, but tOSU looks to still be a young team, especially on offense. Will lose a bunch of D to graduation/end of eligibility/going pro/transfer at the end of our next championship run. Go Bucks!
I don’t understand OsU fans wanting a “bigger RB” when they have Bo, who is next to the same size as Quinshon last year and I didn’t see anyone clamoring for a big RB last year, they were fine with him. Jackson And West have bruising run styles to where they play bigger than their weight.
Akih is a balanced RB who is similar to Boom Herron in play style. Another RB who enjoyed contact and fought for extra yards. Imo, if Peoples returns Lock doesn’t look for another RB in the Portal

I think he redshirts this year. He's not really needed this year, IMO. Especially by The Game when Jakobi should be back
I've seen nothing that says Jakobi SHOULD be back by The Game. The original report that mentioned that game was by Dan Hope, who said that Jackson "hopes to be back by Ohio State's rivalry game against Michigan". Since then, other outlets have reported the same but worded it differently, in some cases because they are trying to avoid citing Dan Hope as their source (looking at you ESPN).

If you have seen anything suggesting that he SHOULD return by The Game, please cite the source. If this is based on the Dan Hope report (or anything similar) then my take is that The Game is an EXTREMELY optimistic goal and is very unlikely to be met. That would be 7 weeks after the injury and even less time since the surgery. That is less than half of the usual recovery time from a lisfranc surgery. While Jakobi can be expected to beat the usual recovery time (Division 1 athlete), he does play a position that is VERY unforgiving of weakness in that part of the foot. He isn't returning to what any one of us would call "normal activity", he is returning to generating enormous amounts of force and treating the injured area as the launch point for it. Unless you have something more for us, his return for The Game would be a pleasant surprise.

Gotcha, yes I was referring Hope's report. But even still, without Jakobi, OSU should be fine with Bo, Isaiah and Legend. And if need be Akih can be used to get one of the guys a rest against NW and Nebraska
