RB Erik Haw (official thread)

if HH said that Kennedy is better than Pittman and Ross, then he will see the field... i read over on another site that he is up to 195 or so, so size won't be that much of a factor...

can these guys catch the ball too?? maybe we will see a USC type of offense in which a fast TB with good hands lines up in the backfield, then goes in motion out to the slot...Reggie Bush made some fantastic plays from the RB-> Slot...

Erik Haw

I SAW VIDEO OF THIS KID FOR THE FIRST TIME TODAY!!!!!! WOW is all I can say. I have seen film on all the running backs for the last two years and he and Ray Williams were the best. My goodness does he have break away speed. He attacks the line of scrimmage and then turns on the jets. If this guy gets past the line hes going for a trip down field.

His style of attacking the line and running straight up field reminds me of Eric Dickerson. Once Eric got past the line he was gone. Haw has the exact same running style. IMO he will be the next great OSU runningback. If he gets touches in the first two games he is gonna make some noise. I don't see Lydell being better than this kid(especially speed, moves, and vision).

I know it is tough to look at this as a possiblity, but I personally think he looks like old tape of Archie when you look at running style. He is bigger I think, and probably faster, but if you see what he does setting up blocks and the way he uses cuts. I know it is a tough comparison for an incoming freshman to be compared to a two time heisman winner, but... IMO he looks a lot like him.

I'm sure it's been said before, but I hope our young crop of RBs really push Lydell Ross to have the kind of senior season Jonathan Wells had, or an even better one. Lydell has been talking the talk for the past couple seasons. He hasn't been running his mouth as much this off-season, which leads me to believe he's taken the important step of letting his actions do the speaking.

I am excited about both Pittman and Haw. I'd sure love to see Haw's tree trunks run right the hell over the Michigan's defensive players, especially the ones from Ohio.

Haw has just sick levels of talent. He is exceptionally patient, has vision that is absolutely unreal and seperation speed that is something to watch. Either Pitman, Haw or both will really push Lydel, just like Lydel pushed Wells. In fairness to lydel, he has been hurt the last 2 seasons respectively. If Lydel can avoid the injury bug, he will have a really strong senior season IMO.

Personally I want it to be a four man show. I think Ross,Haw,Pittman, and Joe can all contribute. I do think that if Lydell does not show up or is injured like last year he will lose his starting position early in the season.

I hope that what we are reading of his talent is as good as you all say he will be. Is there any comparison to the likes of what we saw in Clarett and is he bigger and stronger than him? I was always impressed at what we saw in the likes of Eddie George when he played for Ohio State. IF eric haw can
match up to those two talents then I would say he will fill the void very nicely but until then I think the verdict will still be out on this youngster. God Bless though, i hope he can remain healthy in his 1st year.

I agree. I really liked the four tailback show we took to Morgantown way back when against a pretty decent WVa team. By the fourth quarter, they were dragging and had to deal with our fresh running backs. I'd like to see us rotate them like we have our DL of late.

No, there is no comparison to Clarett IMO. I'm not sure we'll see another back at OSU who comes in as good as Clarett was in our lifetime. Haw is 10 or so pounds lighter than Clarett and an inch or two shorter. He's definately much faster, though, but he doesn't have MoC's raw power. I went to the Grange all-star classic and came away pretty impressed. It's hard to get much of a read on a RB running out of 4 wide shotgun the entire time, but I thought he did show great patience and nice vison and he had more moves than I was expecting. He made some nice cuts and he's a guy who seems to fall foreward, but more from glancing off people than running through them.
