Haw still sidelined by knee
Kareem Copeland ? [email protected] ? December 13, 2007

Jackson State running back Erik Haw still hadn't practiced after microscopic knee surgery as of Tuesday night. The Tigers practiced at 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday because of exams during the day.

JSU leaves today on the way to Birmingham to play in the Southwestern Athletic Conference championship game on Saturday.

Haw had surgery the day before the the Alcorn State game and has been inactive since.

The junior finished the regular season ranked as the No. 6 rusher in the SWAC with 630 yards and seven touchdowns.

I wish him luck, I too doubt he'll be drafted. Hopefully he is close to getting his degree (if he doesn't already have it) If he gets a chance (and gives himself one) he has the potential to at least make a practice squad and get noticed, great speed, and good size is still awful hard to teach.

It wasn't that long ago when some Buckeye fans thought this kid was going to be a star. I never did know what that was about other than a couple of runs in the Spring Game.

I'll be surprised if we ever hear of him again.

The guy had exceptional size and speed (200+ lbs, sub-4.4 40) coming out of high school...his potential was huge.

That's right and it did seem for quite a while like he was on the cusp of making a real contribution. Hard to say why he didn't achieve what many of us expected when he was recruited. Whatever...best of luck to him.

I don't know if there were chronic problems or not or if off-field problems of any kind affected him on the field. He surely got caught in an embarrassing position standing outside a dorm at a time when Ohio State was under the ESPiN spotlight.

My guess is that he has declared for the draft in order to help out a family after his Dad's passing. Hope everyone keeps that in mind in this thread.

The "chronic" problems he was touching on are the same off field issues you are talking about.
