The Ohio State recruiting machine continues their work and today that work included offering a scholarship to 2022 athlete/running back/defensive back Dallan Hayden from Memphis (Tenn.) Christian Brothers.

Hayden posted the offer from the Buckeyes on his Twitter account this afternoon.

The 5-foot-11 and 192-pound Hayden is one of the top athletes in the state of Tennessee and had a great game at running back on Friday night. Hayden could play defensive back or running back in college.

Hayden’s father and brother Chase both played running back. Chase started off at Arkansas and is now at Eastern Carolina University.

Hayden has a list of scholarship offers that in addition to Ohio State includes Tennessee, Florida State, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, Florida, Georgia, Arkansas, Auburn, South Carolina and Memphis.

Hayden is a 4-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite. He is the country’s No. 300 overall class of 2022 prospect, the No. 18 athlete and the No. 10 prospect in Tennessee.

-Says Ohio State and Notre Dame have somewhat separated themselves. Day, Alford and Hartline are in constant contact and have made him a priority. He loves the city of Columbus and says the Buckeyes history and success putting guys into the league stand out.



I continue to feel like Hayden ends up in the class if they keep pushing hard for him

His ranking and size don’t scream a guy Ohio State would push hard for an early commitment from. Is he just underrated? Or is he being recruited in some sort of hybrid role to go along with a primary RB?

Can anyone shed some light on what’s going on here?

I’m not sure I follow. 5-11 and 195 lbs are pretty standard measurables for a Junior running back.

As for his ranking, Ohio State has a great recent track record of identifying kids early on (see Stroud, JSN, Goodwin). He exploded this year as a junior, and I don’t think his ranking has quite caught up to his performance...yet. Right now that staff is pushing extremely hard for him, so there’s definitely something there that they love.

Wasn't this also the case with Zeke and JK? My memory is hazy, but didn't both not blow up until almost their junior or senior seasons? Both under-rated and then took off in the rankings and OSU offered ahead of most schools
