RB Dallan Hayden (transfer to Colorado)

I don’t know if that’s true or not. I don’t think Day and his staff like to go to deep in the rotation unless, like last week, they’re forced too.
Day did say after last weeks game something to the effect of “he does really well when the ball’s in his hands” perhaps implying the other parts of his game (such as pass pro) not quite there yet.

Not trusted to pass block and questionable practice habits per others in the know.
“In the know” means people reading into Day’s comments last week about Hayden “doing a good job with the ball in his hands.” His pass blocking in games is equal to 2 of the 3 other backs, if not 3 of 3. I think the coaches do want to redshirt because of depth at the position. I also don’t think they value the contributions he’s made when he’s bailed out this offense time and time again. The coaches seem to be fixated on the faster, bigger, and stronger backs - even if they are not as available or as productive.

No. This goes back to last year.

I just have to say MEH here. I haven’t seen anything that Chip or Myan does in games that says they’re better. Myan had a great first half today, but second half was pedestrian at best.

Dallan seems to be an unassuming, I'll do what is needed, kind of guy, at least to my scarlet colored glasses. He certainly did what was needed when called upon, from last year to this. Hopefully he has been talked to, and agreed with, Day's (and Hartline's?), plan for him. Could see him bolting easily in the portal, for a Power 5 team, and raking in some substantial moolah. Thought the three top RBs would be moving on after this year, pros or exhaustion of eligibility, but some of the above writers have raised doubts in my mind. Can't say what Dallan would have done against PSU, all conjecture at this point, but do believe he would have gotten better than 1.9 ypc....Go Bucks!

Just heard on a podcast this morning that Hayden is still on par to be redshirted. He played in his 3rd game yesterday, and it’s been hinted that he’ll see PT in The Game. But what’s most interesting, is that he can play the entire post season and not burn his RS due to new NCAA rules.

They mentioned that during the game yesterday. I was never aware that post season games didn't count toward the 4 game limit.

Man I hope Ryan Day looks like a genius after this. I’ve often wondered if he was holding him for late in the season.

No he was not holding him.

Too much of a liability picking up pass blocks.
I think that was overblown after watching weeks of Chip and Chop get destroyed or completely miss on blocks.
I think he was held back for this reason. Have him fresh in the post season. OSU could play Treveyon for 1 quarter, and use Dallan and Chip the rest of the game and still beat Iowa by multiple TDs
