Bickley: Cards' Wells stampeding to top

Big, ugly games require big, nasty running backs.
On cue, the Cardinals welcomed the arrival of Beanie Wells, the latest football folk hero to emerge in Glendale.
"Honestly, he's breaking face masks when he's running through there," Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald said. "I get the heck out of the way when I hear him coming."
In the coming days, fans will not rehash the details of this pivotal 31-20 win over the Seahawks, an afternoon that came with too many sweaty palms and too many booing customers. The game should've been easier. The roof should've been open. Instead, it felt like a street fight inside someone's garage.
And yet the optimism can't be denied. Especially if you watched the freight train from Ohio State score on a fourth-down scamper for one touchdown and then run over three defenders for another.
With the holidays coming, you can bet there'll be a sudden rush on No. 26 jerseys.
"I'd say he redeemed himself a little bit," Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt said.
