RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

Didn't the Rivals analyst Crabtree have Wells in his Top 50 JRs to watch and on his All-American JR squad for 2005? I don't think he can just rescind this and also overlook Chris's measureables, speed and videos. No doubt he is a top 3 RB and a 5* recruit by all recruiting services. If he isn't, then these rankings are a total mockery and should not be held in account when evaluating players.

My name says it all

What an awesome start to this recruiting year! I usually like to take some time off after signing day to re-emerge back into society - but I guess that's not happening now.

Maybe the best part in all of this is that he seems like the kind of kid who's going to get on the horn and help Jimmy T. round up the best of a completely stacked crop of talent in the state next year.

Can't wait to see him in the Scarlet and Gray - Welcome aboard Chris.

GO BUCKS!

I'm speechless... I have no speech.

I really thought this would go down to the wire. With Wells committing, and it looking good for pretty much every other member of the Ohio top 10, this class could easily rival the 02 class.

Say what you want for Coach Tressel's ability to close, but he opens better than any coach in the country. By securing commitments from the top Ohio kids early (Homan, Brown, Hartline could easily be next), he can focus on a select group of studs from out of state and find a few sleepers along the way.

Welcome to Columbus Chris, you've done the entire state proud.

He will be the starter from day one at osu.
He's just as fast or even faster then Pittman with his 6'2 230 size..

I knew he was going to a buckeye from the coaches but, not this fast.
This will be the best recruiting class Tressel has done and this is just the beginning.

I hope joey wells his younger brother gets his grades up. He transferred to cental hower after he was not aloud to play football because, of grades

He'll be a junior next season

I won't argue that point but I will warn everyone to prepare for the rankings...early commits are never the number 1 player in their groups. Example, Dan Doering and Eugene Monroe both paled in comparison to Alex Boone in San Antonio. However, both of those guys were rated higher because they were not yet committed all season.

LeSean McCoy and possibly some others will pass Chris on the national rankings, but it is simply to sell subscriptions. We picked up the best Jr./rising Sr. back in the nation today.
I agree with your point about ratings, g21, but Monroe committed to Virginia on June 13, which is pretty early in the process.

Cleve, thanks for posting those videos. Impressive showings of power, speed, vision, cutbacks, and running over some guys.

September 2006 is a long wait to see him in Scarlet and Gray, but it looks like it will sure be worth it.
