Well, you're right Berry is a game changer but so is Hyde, just in a different way. Hyde really does remind me a lot of Clarett. He's a bit taller, but he's a bulky RB who is surprisingly very light on his feet. He's not a threat to take it to the house every time like Berry is but he will wear a defense down. I think Berry and Hyde are two of the best at what they do. I guess it just comes down to what style of back you prefer.

Not only would it be amazing to have Hyde in this class for his talents and game changing abilities, but something that I really like about the potential of this commitment is that it's just one more notch on the Florida recruiting belt. This could be the beginning of a huge year for us in Florida which can only help our efforts in the future. Never underestimate the impact of one OOS recruit. Hyde could be the straw that breaks the camels back for a number of kids that could possibly end up in this class. Break the seal baby.

Curious, how close is Hyde with some of the other Floridian Buckeye targets? I haven't read anything on Scout or Bucknuts that puts him in the same clique as Emilien, Berry, McGee et al. If he's going to start a domino effect, it'd be interesting to know who his (likely) eventual commitment will positively impact.

Might not mean much...but you're not the only one. Really like Berry's big-play potential but Hyde's the kind of power back the Bucks can really use once Beanie heads off for greener pastures. Not a bad size/speed combo with him either. Can't wait to see him play in person a time or two during his senior year.

Getting both would just be obscene

Count me in on this one too. I'm quite sure that Berry's very good... but there is no question that Hyde's style of play fits well in CBUS.

Of the backs that we're offering right now, this young man is the one I'd like to see most of all. I think that with the commits from the last two classes as well as those who will be upperclassmen at the time he starts to see the field... he rounds out the team better than anyone at this position.

Here's to hoping we get both Hyde and Berry... would love to see them split in the backfield on a few plays... for nothing more than the comic relief from watching the opposing DC try and figure out how to defend it.

Looking forward to the next few years. It WILL be sick.

Good grief no.

If we manage to land both Hyde and Berry (and I really like the chances), the depth in the backfield the next few years would be obscene.

Herron
Berry
Hyde
plus you have Hall and Flash as more depth.

By the time they're upper-classmen, Berry-Hyde could be a Bush-White type duo. Add in Pryor at QB with the depth at WR and you can't help but just drool at how much fun this team would be to watch.

If we get Berry & Hyde. And we already have QB, TP.......and another RB like Flash, Herron, Saine or Hall......am I the only one that would like to see a good old T-formation??? The possibilities are endless! :biggrin:

Hyde probably doesn't have too much contact with them, even though, by Ohio geographical standards, there isn't a a great deal of distance that separates them. Hyde attends high school in the Naples area, on the Gulf Coast. All the other kids are Miami-Dade area kids. The "South Florida" area, which refers specifically to the Miami metro area (as opposed to areas like Naples, which are technically in South Florida) may be the richest localized area for high school football talent in the nation. All those kids, whether they play against one another on a week-to-week basis or not, seem to know one another and their abilities. The exception is that the top Miami-area schools will travel throughout Florida (and the nation) to play other top programs. For instance a really strong top-level high school may travel to Central Florida to play Lakeland High, which is a perennial power that tends to feed kids to Gainesville, just like Glenville feeds kids to Columbus.

All this is speculation, but it is a reflection of my time spent living in Florida and following the state's remarkable high school football scene. Maybe someone more connected can comment as well, b/c I have wondered about Hyde's connection to other Florida recruits as well.
