RB Brandon Schnittker (official thread)

...if we lose him we're in deep shit!

Not really. I think Wells can fill in pretty well (pun intended). When he's played in situtations other than "clock-killing" time, he's done as he was hyped. I think if he were to play in place of Pittman during "normal" situations, he'd open a lot of eyes. And we still haven't seen much of Haw either...some players step in up in game time over practice.

Not sure but I remember freezing my butt of at the Spring game and seeing Haw look pretty good, not sure exactly what happened, besides the joint incident..Maybe just bad work habits, or Wells looks alot better during practice. But I thought Haw was far and away the better looking back as far as speed and power. We really havent seen enough of him to fairly judge his abilities IMO...

Am I the only one that isn't completely high on MoWells? (Besides Taosman apparently)

I know he's parade all American and he's only getting used in a bunch of garbage situations, but I have yet to see him produce with any consistently.

On any play he's capable of breaking off a nifty 25 yarder, but more often than not he drops in the backfield for a loss. I honestly don't believe that we could successfully march the field with him - whereas Pittman does this exceptionally well.

I think Wells is running into the same problem Pittman had last year - he's shell shocked by the speed and size of the B10. Another year in the weight room, and he'll probably be a force next year, but this year, I'd easily take 1 Pittman over 2 MoWells.

I have to disagree. Some of the armtackles that bring him down behind the LOS are (of course) not unexpected of a freshman, but unexpected of a starter.

Very few of the tackles of Wells have been arm tackles...most have been when he's had two or three defensive people in the backfield or has been told to run it into the pile. Look at the Indy game last week where he had only five carries but got 50 yards because they came not during garbage time like usual. Pittman has also been tripped up a couple times.

Wells is just not strong enough! He goes down faster that a.........!

How's that , Deety!
I don't think Wells could replace Pittman (I think he could replace last year's version of pittman), but he's a pretty strong kid. That run along the goal line (against Miami?) showed his strength.

We haven't given Wells a chance yet. Giving him the ball in garbage time when everyone knows it is a run (hence the loaded box) renders those runs irrelevant.

We have a better idea how Todd Boeckman would do at QB, and we haven't seen enough of Todd either.

Mili, I'm high on wells. But the big thing, is that Pittman breaks lots of tackles, and falls forward after getting hit. Wells has shown the ability to bounce off of tackles, but I haven't seen him run through someone yet. He's a built RB, and probably can at times, but he hasn't had a chance to do so.

Until we see it, I think losing Pitt would be a serious blow. On the other hand, I don't think giving Wells 40% of the pre-garbagetime carries would be a bad idea during the next two games.
